ドライブで奈良へ
妻に奈良まちへでも遊びに行こうかと誘ってドライブに出かけました。奈良に着くと、まずは古寺巡礼で今回は新薬師寺に来ました。名前は何度も耳にしていましたが、実際に来るのは初めてです。駐車場を上手く見つけることができず、大分離れたところに止めてしまいました。
新薬師寺は天平19年（747）に聖武天皇の病気平癒を祈願して、光明皇后によって創建された歴史あるお寺です。南門を通って境内に入ると、数組の家族連れとすれ違いました。現在は境内の大部分を本堂が占めている、シンプルな造りのお寺です。
薬師如来坐像と十二神像
本堂内は撮影が禁止されていますので、仏像の写真は撮れませんでした。堂内では本尊の薬師如来坐像を中心に十二神像立像が円形に取り囲んで並んでいます。薬師如来は堂々とした姿で、どっしりと座っておられるため、祈ればどんな病でも癒してくれると、古代の人は感じたのでしょう。そう思わせる演出が宗教には必要だと感じます。
お祈りの際は、「オンコロコロセンダリマトウギソワカ」と薬師如来の真言を唱えました。オンコロコロの音が好きなので、意味は存じ上げませんが、この真言はよく唱えます。もう一つ覚えている真言は、誕生月と干支の両方で守護仏になっていただいてる大日如来（金剛界）の真言「オンバザラダトバン」です。
強烈インパクトの御朱印
隣の建物の中で、新薬師寺の歴史について解説をしたビデオを見て、前の庭も少し鑑賞してから本堂に戻り御朱印をいただきました。寺のスタッフかバイトの方かわかりませんが、若干段取りが悪く、いただくまでに随分時間がかかりました。今まで、いろんな寺社で御朱印をいただきましたが、極太マジックで書いたような御朱印は初めてでした。インパクトがありますので、今回は、少し大きめに御朱印を掲載しておきます。（完）

Shin Yakjushiji Temple (English)
Drive to Nara
I asked my wife if we could go for a drive to Nara Town for some fun. When we arrived in Nara, we went on a pilgrimage to the old temples, this time to Shin Yakushiji Temple. I had heard the name of the temple many times, but this was my first time actually coming here. I couldn’t find a good parking lot and had to park far away from the temple.
Shin Yakushiji Temple is a temple with a long history, founded in 747 by Empress Komyo to pray for the healing of Emperor Shomu’s illness. As we entered the temple grounds through the south gate, we passed several families. Today, the temple is a simple structure with the main hall occupying most of the precincts.
Seated statues of Yakushi Nyorai and the statues of Twelve Deities
Photography is not allowed inside the main hall, so I could not take pictures of the Buddha statues. In the main hall, the seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai, the principal deity, is surrounded by twelve standing statues of deities in a circular formation. The ancient people must have felt that Yakushi Nyorai would heal any illness if they prayed to him because of his imposing figure and the fact that he was sitting so firmly. I feel that it is necessary for religions to make people think so.
When praying, I chanted the Yakushi Nyorai mantra, “Onkoro koro sendari matougi sowaka.” I don’t know the meaning of this mantra, but I chant this mantra often, because I like the sound of onkoro-koro. Another mantra that I remember is “Ombazaradatoban,” the mantra of Dainichi Nyorai (Vajrayana), who is my guardian Buddha for both my birth month and zodiac sign.
A red seal with a strong impact
In the building next door, we watched a video explaining the history of Shin Yakushiji Temple, and after admiring the garden in front of the temple, we went back to the main hall to get a red seal. I don’t know if it was a temple staff member or a part-timer, but it was a bit of a slow process and it took a long time to get the red seal. I have received red seals at various temples and shrines, but this was the first time I received a red seal that looked like it was written with a very thick magic marker. The red seal has a great impact, so I will post a slightly larger version of the red seal this time.

Conduire à Nara
J’ai demandé à ma femme si nous pouvions aller faire un tour dans la ville de Nara pour nous amuser un peu. Lorsque nous sommes arrivés à Nara, nous avons fait un pèlerinage dans les vieux temples, cette fois au temple Shin Yakushiji. J’avais entendu le nom du temple à plusieurs reprises, mais c’était la première fois que je venais ici. Je n’ai pas pu trouver un bon parking et j’ai dû me garer loin du temple.
Le temple Shin Yakushiji est un temple à la longue histoire, fondé en 747 par l’impératrice Komyo pour prier pour la guérison de la maladie de l’empereur Shomu. En entrant dans l’enceinte du temple par la porte sud, nous avons croisé plusieurs familles. Aujourd’hui, le temple est une structure simple dont la salle principale occupe la majeure partie de l’enceinte.
Statues assises de Yakushi Nyorai et les statues des Douze Déités
Les photographies sont interdites à l’intérieur du hall principal, je n’ai donc pas pu prendre de photos des statues de Bouddha. Dans le hall principal, la statue assise de Yakushi Nyorai, la divinité principale, est entourée de douze statues de divinités debout, disposées en cercle. Les anciens devaient penser que Yakushi Nyorai guérirait toute maladie s’ils le priaient, en raison de sa silhouette imposante et du fait qu’il était assis si fermement. Je pense qu’il est nécessaire que les religions fassent en sorte que les gens le pensent.
En priant, j’ai chanté le mantra Yakushi Nyorai, “Onkoro koro sendari matougi sowaka”. Je ne connais pas la signification de ce mantra, mais je le chante souvent, car j’aime le son de onkoro-koro. Un autre mantra dont je me souviens est “Ombazaradatoban”, le mantra de Dainichi Nyorai (Vajrayana), qui est mon Bouddha gardien pour mon mois de naissance et mon signe zodiacal.
Un sceau rouge à fort impact
Dans le bâtiment voisin, nous avons regardé une vidéo expliquant l’histoire du temple Shin Yakushiji, et après avoir admiré le jardin devant le temple, nous sommes retournés dans le hall principal pour obtenir un sceau rouge. Je ne sais pas si c’était un membre du personnel du temple ou un employé à temps partiel, mais le processus était un peu lent et il a fallu beaucoup de temps pour obtenir le sceau rouge. J’ai reçu des sceaux rouges dans divers temples et sanctuaires, mais c’était la première fois que je recevais un sceau rouge qui semblait avoir été écrit avec un marqueur magique très épais. Le sceau rouge a un grand impact, c’est pourquoi je vais poster une version légèrement plus grande du sceau rouge cette fois-ci.
