そうだ京都行こう！
京都の出町柳から鞍馬や比叡山に向かって叡山電鉄（通称：えいでん）というローカルな電車が出ています。この沿線に多数の庭園があり、時々えいでんに乗って見に行きます。かつてJR東海の「そうだ京都行こう！」で取材された十牛之庭を拝観してきました。
十牛之庭
禅の悟りの到達度を表す十牛図がモチーフになった十牛之庭。池泉回遊式の庭園ですが、庭を巡るよりも本堂の畳の上から眺める方が、私好みです。縁側と軒との額縁効果で庭の情景が一層引き立てられます。
この庭で一番に目を引いたのが、伏せた牛に見える大きな石です。牛に似た石を持ってきたのか、それとも十牛之庭という印象から、巨石が牛に似ているように見えてしまうのかわかりません。庭の名前も知らずに見た場合は、単なる石組にしか見えないのかもしれません。
牛の次は龍
十牛之庭を出ると奔龍庭にでます。ここは石で龍を象形し、砂利で表現した雲の中から背ビレを出して泳いでいる様子が、ありありと出ています。ここまで写実的な石組は珍しいなと思いながら、しばらく眺めていました。
ここは徳川家康にもゆかりのあるお寺で、裏山には家康公の歯を埋葬した小さな東照宮があり、そこから洛北を一望できます。これで、京都で２つ目の東照宮を訪問したことになりました。一体、いくつあるんでしょうかね。（完）

Yes, let’s go to Kyoto!
There is a local train called the Eizan Dentetsu (Eiden) that runs from Demachiyanagi in Kyoto to Kurama and Hieizan. There are many gardens along this line, and I sometimes take the Eiden to see them. I visited The Carden of Ten Bulls, which was once covered by JR Tokai’s “Yes, let’s go to Kyoto!” campaign.
The Carden of Ten Bulls
The Ten Bulls Garden was inspired by the Ten Bulls Diagram, which represents the level of enlightenment in Zen. Although it is a pond garden, I prefer to view it from the tatami mats of the main hall rather than touring the garden. The framing effect of the veranda and the eaves enhances the scenery of the garden.
The first thing that caught my attention in this garden was a large stone that looked like a prostrate bull. I don’t know if they brought in a stone that resembles a bull, or if the huge stone looks like a bull because of the impression that this garden is called the Carden of Ten Bulls. If you look at it without knowing the name of the garden, it may just look like a mere set of stones.
After the bull, comes the dragon.
Leaving the Carden of Ten Bulls, we came to the Garden of Flying Dragon. In this garden, a dragon is represented with stones, and its back is swimming out of the clouds expressed with gravel. It was rare to see such realistic masonry, and I spent some time looking at it.
This temple is also associated with Ieyasu Tokugawa, and there is a small Toshogu shrine on the hill behind the temple where Ieyasu’s tooth is buried, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of northern Kyoto. This is the second Toshogu I’ve visited in Kyoto. I wonder how many Toshogu shrines there are all over Japan.

Il existe un train local appelé Eizan Dentetsu (Eiden) qui va de Demachiyanagi à Kyoto à Kurama et Hieizan. Il y a de nombreux jardins le long de cette ligne, et je prends parfois l’Eiden pour les voir. J’ai visité le Jardin des dix taureaux, qui était autrefois couvert par la campagne de JR Tokai “Oui, allons à Kyoto !”.

Le jardin des dix taureaux a été inspiré par le diagramme des dix taureaux, qui représente le niveau d’illumination dans le zen. Bien qu’il s’agisse d’un jardin d’étangs, je préfère l’observer depuis les tatamis de la salle principale plutôt que de faire le tour du jardin. L’effet de cadrage de la véranda et des avant-toits met en valeur le paysage du jardin.
La première chose qui a attiré mon attention dans ce jardin est une grande pierre qui ressemble à un taureau prostré. Je ne sais pas s’ils ont apporté une pierre qui ressemble à un taureau, ou si l’énorme pierre ressemble à un taureau parce qu’on a l’impression que ce jardin s’appelle le Carden of Ten Bulls. Si vous le regardez sans connaître le nom du jardin, il peut ressembler à un simple ensemble de pierres.
Après le taureau, vient le dragon.
En quittant le Carden of Ten Bulls, nous sommes arrivés au Garden of Flying Dragon. Dans ce jardin, un dragon est représenté avec des pierres, et son dos nage hors des nuages exprimés avec du gravier. Il était rare de voir une maçonnerie aussi réaliste, et j’ai passé un certain temps à l’observer.
Ce temple est également associé à Ieyasu Tokugawa, et il y a un petit sanctuaire Toshogu sur la colline derrière le temple où la dent de Ieyasu est enterrée, d’où vous pouvez profiter d’une vue panoramique du nord de Kyoto. C’est le deuxième Toshogu que je visite à Kyoto. Je me demande combien de sanctuaires Toshogu il y a dans tout le Japon.
