猿沢の池と五重塔
猿沢の池から見上げると、日本で2番目に高い五重塔が目に入ってきます。廃仏毀釈の時代、お寺の財政が窮して五重塔を売却し、購入者が上部にある金属部分の相輪を手に入れようと塔自体を焼いてしまおうとしたことがあると、噓か真かわからない話を聞いたことがあります。
興福寺境内
今回はその興福寺にある、西国三十三霊場第９番 興福寺南円堂（法相宗大本山）を訪問しました。興福寺では阿修羅像のある国宝館や東金堂で宝物や仏像を見て、五重塔、それに復元された中金堂を巡るだけの方も多いですが。境内の南西に南円堂はあります。
南円堂
南円堂の内陣の御本尊である不空羂索観世音菩薩坐像は年1回10月に行われる大般若経転読会のみ開帳されるので、普段はお堂の外側より御姿を見ることなく拝んでおります。興福寺には国宝の北円堂もあり、南円堂は重要文化財です。
ここには納経所が隣接しているので、参拝者は常に何名かいらっしゃいます。奈良公園に近いので、時々鹿が境内を歩いているのも見かけます。お参りしていると、お堂の前で団体の高齢者の方々がお経を唱え始めました。
三重塔
お堂の横の階段を下りて、さらに南西の隅まで歩いていくと、三重塔がひっそりと建っています。五重塔は国宝ですが、この三重塔も国宝です。三重塔の後ろ側まで回ると、三重塔、五重塔を部分的にですが直線上に並んで見ることができます。現地で、是非お試しください。（完）

Kofukuji Temple Nanendo Hall (English)
Sarusawa Pond and Five-story Pagoda
Looking up from the Sarusawa Pond, the second tallest five-story pagoda in Japan comes into view. I have heard a story, which may or may not be true, that during the period of the abolition of Buddhism, the temple’s finances were so tight that they sold the five-story pagoda and the purchaser tried to burn the pagoda itself to get the metal part of the pagoda at the top.
Precincts of Kofukuji Temple
This time, I visited Kofukuji Nanendo hall, the ninth of the 33 sacred temples in the western Japan (the head temple of the Hoso sect). Many people only visit Kofukuji to see the treasures and statues in the National Treasure Gallery (where the Ashura statue is located), the East Main Hall, the five-story pagoda, and the restored Central Main Hall. Nanendo hall is located in the southwest of the temple grounds.
Nanendo Hall
The seated statue of Amoghapasa Kannon, the main deity in the inner sanctum of the Nanendo Hall, is only opened once a year in October for the reading of the Mahaparinirvana Sutra, so I usually worship it without seeing it from outside the hall. Kofukuji Temple also has a national treasure, the Hokuendo hall, and the Nanendo hall is an important cultural property.
There is a sutra center adjacent to the temple, so there are always some worshippers here. Since it is close to Nara Park, I sometimes see deer walking around the temple grounds. As I was paying my respects, a group of elderly people started chanting sutras in front of the hall.
Three-storied pagoda
If you go down the stairs next to the hall and walk further to the southwest corner, you will find a three-story pagoda standing quietly. The five-story pagoda is a national treasure, and this three-story pagoda is also a national treasure. If you walk around to the back of the three-story pagoda, you can see the three-story pagoda and five-story pagoda partially side by side in a straight line. L’étang de Sarusawa et la pagode à cinq étages
En levant les yeux de l’étang de Sarusawa, on aperçoit la deuxième plus haute pagode à cinq étages du Japon. J’ai entendu une histoire, qui peut être vraie ou fausse, selon laquelle, pendant la période d’abolition du bouddhisme, les finances du temple étaient si serrées qu’ils ont vendu la pagode à cinq étages et l’acheteur a essayé de brûler la pagode elle-même pour obtenir la partie métallique de la pagode au sommet.
L’enceinte du temple Kofukuji
Cette fois, j’ai visité le Kofukuji Nanendo hall, le neuvième des 33 temples sacrés de l’ouest du Japon (le temple principal de la secte Hoso). De nombreuses personnes ne visitent le Kofukuji que pour voir les trésors et les statues de la Galerie du trésor national (où se trouve la statue de l’Ashura), le hall principal est, la pagode à cinq étages et le hall principal central restauré. Le hall Nanendo est situé au sud-ouest de l’enceinte du temple.
Salle Nanendo
La statue assise d’Amoghapasa Kannon, la divinité principale du sanctuaire intérieur de la salle Nanendo, n’est ouverte qu’une fois par an, en octobre, pour la lecture du Mahaparinirvana Sutra, et je la vénère donc généralement sans la voir de l’extérieur de la salle. Le temple Kofukuji possède également un trésor national, la salle Hokuendo, et la salle Nanendo est un bien culturel important.
Il y a un centre de sutra à côté du temple, donc il y a toujours des fidèles ici. Comme il est proche du parc de Nara, je vois parfois des cerfs se promener dans l’enceinte du temple. Alors que je présentais mes respects, un groupe de personnes âgées a commencé à chanter des sutras devant la salle.
Pagode à trois étages
Si vous descendez les escaliers situés à côté du hall et que vous vous dirigez vers l’angle sud-ouest, vous trouverez une pagode à trois étages qui se dresse tranquillement. La pagode à cinq étages est un trésor national, et cette pagode à trois étages est également un trésor national. Si vous vous promenez à l’arrière de la pagode à trois étages, vous pouvez voir la pagode à trois étages et la pagode à cinq étages partiellement côte à côte en ligne droite. N’hésitez pas à visiter le site et à l’essayer par vous-même. (Fin)
