成相寺

ドライブ巡礼

今までタクシーを利用したことはありましたが、西国霊場へ行く際は鉄道・バスと自らの足を使っていました。ただ、日本海側に行くのは、さすがに鉄道のコスト、時間のロスを考えると車で行くのが最善との結論になり、ドライブがてら妻と二人で行くことにしました。

日本海側には、28番の成相寺と29番の松尾寺があります。まず、大阪から高速道路にのり、京都縦貫自動車道を経由して成相寺まで来ました。大阪にいても日本海側に来ることは、ごく稀なことで、今回も約15年ぶりの来訪です。

いつもですと徒歩の山登りにあくせくするところですが、車なのでスーッと登っていき駐車場に到着しました。しかし、本堂までは石段を上らねばなりません。ここにお祀りされているのは聖観世音菩薩様で、別名は橋立観音様です。

真向きの龍

本堂内は撮影禁止ですが、ただ一か所、許可されているものがあります。それは雨乞いのために彫られた龍の彫刻「真向きの龍」です。これまた左甚五郎の作品。目に釘を打つ、という話はなさそうですが、見たことのない龍の彫刻を頼まれて困った甚五郎は、夢で龍の居場所を教えられ、滝つぼから天空に立ち上がり雲間に消える龍を見て、彫ったそうです。何かと伝説の多い、甚五郎らしいエピソードです。

天橋立

車で更に山を上って、パノラマ展望所まで行き、天橋立を見ました。曇り空ですが、橋立は良く見えました。寺巡りに付き合わせた妻も喜んでくれ、これを見られただけでも、本日の儲けものでした。（完）

Nariaiji Temple (English)

Driving Pilgrimage

I had used cabs before, but when I went to the sacred sites in the western part of Japan, I used my own feet, either by train or bus. However, considering the cost of railroads and the loss of time, I came to the conclusion that it would be best to go to the Sea of Japan side by car, so my wife and I decided to go there by driving.

On the Sea of Japan side, there are two temples, Nariaiji Temple (No. 28) and Matsunoji Temple (No. 29). First, I took the expressway from Osaka to Nariaiji Temple via the Kyoto Transcontinental Expressway. It is very rare for me to visit the Sea of Japan side even though I am in Osaka, and this was my first visit in about 15 years.

Normally, I would have to hustle up the mountain on foot, but since we were in a car, we drove up quickly and arrived at the parking lot. However, we had to climb up the stone steps to the main hall. Enshrined here is Saint Kannon Bodhisattva, also known as Hashidate Kannon.

Facing the dragon

Photography is prohibited in the main hall, but there is one place where it is allowed. It is a sculpture of a dragon carved to pray for rain, the “Facing the Dragon. ” This is another work by Jingoro Hidari. Although there is no story about hitting a nail in the eye of the dragon, Jingoro was troubled when he was asked to carve a dragon that he had never seen before, but he was told the location of the dragon in a dream, saw the dragon rise up from the waterfall basin into the sky and disappear among the clouds, and carved it. This is an episode typical of Jingoro, who has many legends.

Amanohashidate (“the heavenly bridge”)

We drove further up the mountain to the panoramic observation point to see Amanohashidate. The sky was cloudy, but the bridge looked good. My wife, who accompanied me on the temple tour, was happy to see it, and I was able to fulfill my goal for the day. (End)

Pèlerinage en voiture

J’avais déjà utilisé des taxis auparavant, mais lorsque je me suis rendu sur les sites sacrés de la partie occidentale du Japon, j’ai utilisé mes propres pieds, soit en train, soit en bus. Cependant, compte tenu du coût des chemins de fer et de la perte de temps, je suis arrivé à la conclusion qu’il serait préférable d’aller du côté de la mer du Japon en voiture, et ma femme et moi avons donc décidé de nous y rendre en voiture.

Du côté de la mer du Japon, il y a deux temples, le temple Nariaiji (n° 28) et le temple Matsunoji (n° 29). Tout d’abord, j’ai pris la voie rapide d’Osaka jusqu’au temple Nariaiji en passant par la voie rapide transcontinentale de Kyoto. Il est très rare que je me rende du côté de la mer du Japon, même si je suis à Osaka, et c’était ma première visite depuis environ 15 ans.

Normalement, j’aurais dû monter la montagne à pied, mais comme nous étions en voiture, nous sommes montés rapidement et sommes arrivés au parking. Cependant, nous avons dû monter les marches en pierre jusqu’à la salle principale. C’est ici qu’est enterré Saint Kannon Bodhisattva, également connu sous le nom de Hashidate Kannon.

Affronter le dragon

La photographie est interdite dans le hall principal, mais il y a un endroit où elle est autorisée. Il s’agit d’une sculpture d’un dragon taillé pour prier pour la pluie, le “Facing the Dragon”. “C’est une autre œuvre de Jingoro Hidari. Bien qu’il n’y ait pas d’histoire sur le fait d’avoir enfoncé un clou dans l’œil du dragon, Jingoro a été troublé lorsqu’on lui a demandé de sculpter un dragon qu’il n’avait jamais vu auparavant, mais on lui a indiqué l’emplacement du dragon dans un rêve, il a vu le dragon s’élever du bassin de la cascade vers le ciel et disparaître parmi les nuages, et il l’a sculpté. C’est un épisode typique de Jingoro, dont les légendes sont nombreuses.

Amanohashidate (“le pont céleste”)

Nous sommes allés plus haut dans la montagne jusqu’au point d’observation panoramique pour voir Amanohashidate. Le ciel était nuageux, mais le pont était beau. Ma femme, qui m’accompagnait pour la visite du temple, était heureuse de le voir, et j’ai pu remplir mon objectif de la journée. (Fin)
