元慶寺

番外札所

西国三十三所には番外札所がいくつかあるので、まず御朱印帳に載っているお寺を訪問してみることにしました。訪れたのは京都山科にある元慶寺。京都の地下鉄東西線の御陵駅からトボトボ歩いて20分くらいでしょうか、到着しました。

花山法皇が出家した寺

門の前に立て札があり由緒が書かれています。廃れつつあった西国三十三所観音霊場巡りを復興した花山天皇が、わずか在位2年で退位、出家されたのが元慶寺で、花山法皇となられたそうです。これが縁で、番外札所になっています。

御本尊は薬師瑠璃光如来様で、観音様ではありません。門をくぐると、こじんまりした境内ながら植え込みがきれいに整えられています。少し歩くと左手に本堂の薬師堂があり、お参りしてきました。

花山天皇は不本意ながらの退位と聞いています。当時は陰謀渦巻く平安京。外孫の皇太子即位を画策する藤原氏の策謀により退位、出家されたそうです。ここで出家に臨まれた御心中は如何ばかりであったかと、御察し申し上げます。

ただ、こうして今日、西国三十三所巡礼を今日も行えるのは、花山法皇に再興していただいた、御蔭であり、感謝を込めてお祈りしてきました。奥の納経所で御朱印をいただき、出張先に向かいました。（完）

Gankeiji Temple (English)

Temple which is not included in the list of pilgrimage

Since there are several temples that are not included in the official pilgrimage, I decided to visit the temples listed in the red seal book first. The first temple I visited was Gankeiji Temple in Yamashina, Kyoto. It took me about 20 minutes to get there from Goryo Station on the Tozai Line of the Kyoto Subway.

The temple where Emperor Kazan was ordained.

There is a sign in front of the gate that tells the history of the temple. It is said that Emperor Kazan, who revived the pilgrimage to the 33 sacred places of Kannon in Western Japan, which was becoming obsolete, abdicated after only two years on the throne. Because of this, the temple has become an extra sacred site.

The main deity of the temple is Yakushi Ruriko Nyorai, not Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy. As I passed through the gate, I saw that the temple grounds were small, but beautifully landscaped. After a short walk, I found the main hall, Yakushido, on my left and paid my respects.

I heard that Emperor Kazan abdicated reluctantly. At the time, the Heian-kyo Capital (old Kyoto city) was a whirlwind of intrigue. He abdicated and became a monk due to the intrigues of the Fujiwara clan, who were plotting the accession of their grandson to the throne. I can only imagine what must have been going through his mind when he decided to become a monk here.

However, it is thanks to the reestablishment of the temple by the Emperor Kazan that we are able to make the pilgrimage to the 33 temples of the Western Japan today, and I prayed with gratitude. I received a red seal at the Nokyo Sutra Repository at the back of the temple and headed for my business trip. (End)

Temple Gankeiji (Français)

Temple qui ne figure pas sur la liste des pèlerinages

Comme il y a plusieurs temples qui ne sont pas inclus dans le pèlerinage officiel, j’ai décidé de visiter d’abord les temples figurant dans le livre du sceau rouge. Le premier temple que j’ai visité était le temple Gankeiji à Yamashina, Kyoto. Il m’a fallu environ 20 minutes pour m’y rendre depuis la station Goryo de la ligne Tozai du métro de Kyoto.

Un panneau situé devant la porte raconte l’histoire du temple. On raconte que l’empereur Kazan, qui a relancé le pèlerinage vers les 33 lieux sacrés de Kannon dans l’ouest du Japon, qui devenait obsolète, a abdiqué après seulement deux ans sur le trône. Pour cette raison, le temple est devenu un site sacré supplémentaire.

La principale divinité du temple est Yakushi Ruriko Nyorai, et non Kannon, la déesse de la miséricorde. En franchissant la porte, j’ai vu que le terrain du temple était petit, mais magnifiquement aménagé. Après une courte marche, j’ai trouvé la salle principale, Yakushido, sur ma gauche et j’ai présenté mes respects.

J’ai entendu dire que l’empereur Kazan a abdiqué à contrecœur. À l’époque, la capitale Heian-kyo (ancienne ville de Kyoto) était un tourbillon d’intrigues. Il a abdiqué et est devenu moine en raison des intrigues du clan Fujiwara, qui complotait l’accession au trône de leur petit-fils. Je ne peux qu’imaginer ce qui a dû lui passer par la tête lorsqu’il a décidé de devenir moine ici.

Cependant, c’est grâce au rétablissement du temple par l’empereur Kazan que nous pouvons aujourd’hui effectuer le pèlerinage dans les 33 temples du Japon occidental, et j’ai prié avec gratitude. J’ai reçu un sceau rouge au dépôt de sutra de Nokyo à l’arrière du temple et je suis parti pour mon voyage d’affaires. (Fin)
