烏賀陽百合 著 「一度は行ってみたい京都「絶景庭園」」光文社知恵の森文庫
日本の庭園についての本を読み始めて2冊目に出会ったのが、烏賀陽百合さんの書かれた「一度は行ってみたい京都「絶景庭園」」です。仕事柄、京都には週に１、２回行くことがあるので、開いた時間で近くに庭園があれば、見に行こうと考えていました。
著者の烏賀陽さんは京都育ちで、幼いころから京都の庭園を巡られていたそうです。大学卒業後、園芸を学びカナダにも留学され、世界各国の庭園を見て回り、現在、京都を拠点にガーデンデザイナーとしてだけではなく、著述や講演など幅広く活躍されています。
本書では、20の章立てで京都の代表的な庭園を取り上げています。エッセイ風な文章でありながら、専門家らしく豊富な知識をわかりやすく伝えてくれています。文章から、烏賀陽さんの京都愛や日本の庭園をこよなく愛する姿勢が伝わってきます。
第1章の金閣寺 vs. 龍安寺から始まり、天龍寺、西芳寺、建仁寺、東福寺、南禅寺、、、、と続いていきます。各章の終わりには、オススメの店として庭園の近くのスィーツや伝統菓子を食べられるところを紹介しています。
私が訪問した場合、目次に付箋を貼っているのですが、今数えると18枚貼ってあり、ずいぶんとお世話になっています。公開期間が限定されているところがまだ残っていますので、タイミングが合えば訪れたいと思います。
まずは、綺麗な庭から訪れたいという方にお勧めの一冊です。この本で、一通り訪問を終えられたら、お気に入りの作庭家も見つかってくると思います。そうしましたら、その作庭家の庭を集中的に見ることで、さらに知見が深まります。（完）

Yuri Ugaya, “Kyoto’s ‘Spectacular Gardens’ You Must Visit at Least Once,” Kobunsha Chie-no-mori Bunko (English)
The second book I came across when I started reading about Japanese gardens was “Kyoto ‘Spectacular Gardens’ You Must Visit at Least Once” written by Yuri Ugaoya. Since my job requires me to visit Kyoto once or twice a week, I was thinking of going to see if there were any gardens nearby in my open time.
The author, Ms. Ugaoya, grew up in Kyoto and has been visiting gardens in Kyoto since she was a child. After graduating from university, she studied horticulture in Canada and traveled around the world to see gardens.
The book is divided into 20 chapters covering representative gardens in Kyoto. Although the text is written in the style of an essay, it conveys a wealth of knowledge in an easy-to-understand manner as she is an expert. The text conveys Mr. Ugaoya’s love for Kyoto and her devotion to Japanese gardens.
It starts with the first chapter, Kinkakuji Temple vs. Ryoanji Temple, and continues with Tenryuji Temple, Saihoji Temple, Kenninji Temple, Tofukuji Temple, and Nanzenji Temple 、、、、. At the end of each chapter, there are recommendations for places to eat sweets and traditional sweets near the gardens.
When I visit a site, I put a sticky note on the table of contents, and I counted 18 stickies on the table of contents, which has helped me a lot. There are still some places that are open to the public only for a limited time, so I would like to visit them when the timing is right. (End)

Le deuxième livre sur lequel je suis tombée lorsque j’ai commencé à me documenter sur les jardins japonais est “Kyoto ‘Spectacular Gardens’ You Must Visit at Least Once”, écrit par Yuri Ugaoya. Comme mon travail m’oblige à me rendre à Kyoto une ou deux fois par semaine, je pensais aller voir s’il y avait des jardins à proximité pendant mon temps libre.
L’auteur, Mme Ugaoya, a grandi à Kyoto et visite les jardins de Kyoto depuis son enfance. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme universitaire, elle a étudié l’horticulture au Canada et a voyagé dans le monde entier pour voir des jardins.
Le livre est divisé en 20 chapitres couvrant des jardins représentatifs de Kyoto. Bien que le texte soit écrit dans le style d’un essai, il transmet une foule de connaissances d’une manière facile à comprendre, car elle est une experte. Le texte transmet l’amour de M. Ugaoya pour Kyoto et sa dévotion pour les jardins japonais.
Il commence avec le premier chapitre, le temple Kinkakuji contre le temple Ryoanji, et se poursuit avec le temple Tenryuji, le temple Saihoji, le temple Kenninji, le temple Tofukuji et le temple Nanzenji 、、、、. À la fin de chaque chapitre, on trouve des recommandations d’endroits où manger des sucreries et des confiseries traditionnelles près des jardins.
Lorsque je visite un site, je place une note autocollante sur la table des matières. J’ai compté 18 notes autocollantes sur la table des matières, ce qui m’a beaucoup aidé. Il y a encore des endroits qui ne sont ouverts au public que pour un temps limité, alors j’aimerais les visiter quand le moment sera venu. (Fin)
