今年は寅年、それも36年に一回の五黄の寅ということで、奈良県の信貴山にある朝護孫子寺にお参りに行くことにしました。JR線で王寺駅に行き、そこから奈良交通バスで信貴大橋に向かう予定でした。1月4日に行ったためか、お寺の駐車場が満車状態で、入れない車が道を塞いでいて、乗客はバスの中に詰め込まれたまま、ほとんど進めません。
さすがに運転手さんも無理だとあきらめたのか、降車を希望する乗客を降ろしてくれました。私も歩いた方が早く到着できると判断し、歩き出しました。坂道が続きますが、20分ほど歩いて無事に仁王門まで到着。境内は、歩けないほど混んでいるわけではないので、見たいところを順に回っていきました。
最初は、大きな虎の像を見に行きました。テレビのニュースで紹介されている虎の像です。さすがに大きく、像と一緒に写真を撮るために、多くの参拝客が並んでいました。その少し先には、お子様用でしょうか、小さな虎の像のペアが置いてあります。
このお寺には日本一大きな地蔵像があるので、まず見に行きました。確かに大きいのですが、比較的新しいようで、まだまだありがたさを感じません。次に信貴山の頂上にある祠に向かって歩きだしました。正月早々、坂道を登るのは、しんどいです。さっきまでバスを降りて山道を登ってきたので、さらに苦く感じます。頂上には立派な祠があり、そこからも雄大な景色を眺めることができました。ここは、かつて信貴山城があった場所です。松永久秀が、織田信長と対立して最後に爆死した場所でもあります。
山を下って本堂にてお参りをしました。ここからの風景も良いです。境内には虎をモチーフにした様々な像があります。一番気に入ったのは、ある祠前にあった金と銀の、狛犬ならぬ、狛虎でしょうか。このお寺も、参拝客を飽きさせない工夫を随所にちりばめた仏教レジャーランドの様相です。（完）

Chogosonshiji Temple (Nara Prefecture)
This year is the year of the tiger, and it is also the year of the five-hundredth tiger, so I decided to visit the Chogosonshiji Temple on Mt. Shigi. I planed to go to JR Oji station then to take Nara Kotsu Bus bound for Great Shigi Bridge. But the parking lot of the temple was full, probably because I was there on January 4th, and cars that couldn’t get in were blocking the road, so passengers of the Bus were crammed and could hardly proceed.
As expected, the driver gave up and dropped off passengers who wanted to get off the bus. I decided that I could reach the destination faster by walking, so I started walking. The path was hilly, but after walking for about 20 minutes, I arrived safely at the Nio-mon gate. The temple grounds were not so crowded that I couldn’t walk, so I went around in order to see what I wanted to see.
First, I went to see the large tiger statue. This is the tiger statue that was introduced on the TV news. It was indeed huge, and many worshippers lined up to take pictures with the statue. A little further on, there was a pair of small tiger statues, perhaps for children.
This temple has the largest Jizo Buddha statue in Japan, so I went to see it first. It is indeed large, but it seems to be relatively new and I still don’t appreciate it. Next, I started walking towards the shrine at the top of Mt. Shigi. It’s hard to climb up a hill so early in the New Year. It felt even more painful since I had just gotten off the bus and climbed up the mountain path. At the top of the mountain, there was a magnificent shrine from which we could enjoy a magnificent view. This is where Shigi-san Castle once stood. This is also the place where Hisahide Matsunaga was killed in the final bombing in a confrontation with Nobunaga Oda.
I went down the mountain and paid my respects at the main hall. The scenery from here is also nice. There are various statues with tiger motifs in the precincts. My favorite was the gold and silver guardian dogs in front of a shrine. This temple also looks like a Buddhist leisure land with many devices to keep visitors happy. (End)
Temple Chogosonshiji (Préfecture de Nara)
Cette année est l’année du tigre, et c’est aussi l’année du cinq-centième tigre, j’ai donc décidé de visiter le temple Chogosonshiji sur le Mont Shigi. J’avais prévu de me rendre à la station JR Oji puis de prendre le Nara Kotsu Bus en direction du Grand Pont Shigi. Mais le parking du temple était plein, probablement parce que j’y étais le 4 janvier, et les voitures qui ne pouvaient pas entrer bloquaient la route, de sorte que les passagers du bus étaient entassés et pouvaient difficilement avancer.
Comme prévu, le chauffeur a abandonné et a déposé les passagers qui voulaient descendre du bus. J’ai décidé que je pourrais atteindre ma destination plus rapidement en marchant, alors j’ai commencé à marcher. Le chemin était vallonné, mais après avoir marché pendant environ 20 minutes, je suis arrivé en toute sécurité à la porte Nio-mon. L’enceinte du temple n’était pas bondée au point de ne pas pouvoir marcher, alors j’ai fait le tour pour voir ce que je voulais voir.
Tout d’abord, je suis allé voir la grande statue de tigre. C’est la statue du tigre qui a été présentée aux informations télévisées. Elle était effectivement énorme, et de nombreux fidèles faisaient la queue pour prendre des photos avec la statue. Un peu plus loin, il y avait une paire de petites statues de tigre, peut-être pour les enfants.
Ce temple possède la plus grande statue de Bouddha Jizo du Japon, je suis donc allé la voir en premier. Elle est effectivement grande, mais elle semble être relativement récente et je ne l’apprécie toujours pas. Ensuite, j’ai commencé à marcher vers le sanctuaire au sommet du mont Shigi. C’est difficile de monter une colline si tôt dans la nouvelle année. C’était d’autant plus douloureux que je venais de descendre du bus et de grimper sur le chemin de la montagne. Au sommet de la montagne, il y avait un magnifique sanctuaire d’où nous pouvions profiter d’une vue magnifique. C’est là que se trouvait autrefois le château de Shigi-san. C’est aussi l’endroit où Hisahide Matsunaga a été tué lors du dernier bombardement lors d’une confrontation avec Nobunaga Oda.
Je suis descendu de la montagne et j’ai présenté mes respects à la salle principale. Le paysage d’ici est également agréable. Il y a plusieurs statues avec des motifs de tigre dans l’enceinte. Ma préférée était les chiens gardiens en or et en argent devant un sanctuaire. Ce temple ressemble aussi à un terrain de loisirs bouddhiste avec de nombreux dispositifs pour rendre les visiteurs heureux. (Fin)
