南禅院

水路閣を越えて南禅院へ

南禅寺境内にローマの水道橋に似た水路閣があるのを御存じでしょうか。時々、サスペンスドラマでも登場するお馴染みのシーンです。その水路閣をくぐって、石段を登っていくと南禅院という、南禅寺の塔頭寺院があります。

前々から気になっていましたが、訪問するタイミングを持てませんでした。今回、職場をサポートしていただく会員団体様を訪問するため、近くに来る予定ができましたので、空いた時間に訪問しました。受付を済ませて、中に入ると、建物越しに見える庭の緑が鮮やかです。

ともかく緑の庭

この庭の印象は“緑”そのものでした。行った季節が梅雨ということも影響していますが、黄色っぽい緑、青っぽい緑、そして正真正銘の緑色が空間すべてを配色しています。池にも水草が浮いていて、緑で覆いつくしています。

池の周りを一周

池の周りを一巡りしてみました。途中、小さな滝があり、その水が池に流れ込んでいるようです。滝の周りの石は、苔で深い緑に色付けされています。そこから先ほど来た方向を見ますと、光のかげんで、黄色い緑に包まれた世界が現れます。

わずかな時間で池を一周しましたが、建物に近づくと、元の緑の色に戻ってきます。南禅寺自体、木々が多くて緑色の印象があり、レンガ色の水路閣がコントラストを放っていたのですが、その奥の南禅院で再び、緑の奥深さを発見することができました。（完）

Nanzenin Temple (Kyoto)

Beyond “Suirokaku” to Nanzenin Temple

Do you know that there is an aqueduct in the precincts of Nanzenji Temple that resembles an aqueduct in Rome? This is a familiar scene that sometimes appears in suspense dramas. After passing through the Suirokaku (aqueduct) and climbing the stone steps, you will find Nanzenin Temple, the sub-temple of Nanzenji Temple.

I have been curious about it for a long time, but never had the time to visit. This time, I had plans to come nearby to visit a member organization that supports my workplace, so I visited during my free time. After completing the reception and entering the building, I could see the vivid greenery of the garden through the building.

Anywhere, green garden.

My impression of this garden was “green” itself. The fact that I visited during the Japanese rainy season may have had some influence, but the entire space was colored in yellowish green, bluish green, and true green. Even the pond was covered in green with floating water plants.

Circle around the pond

I made a round trip around the pond. On the way, there is a small waterfall, the water of which seems to flow into the pond. The stones around the waterfall are colored deep green with moss. From there, looking in the direction from which I had just come, a world surrounded by yellowish green appears, depending on the light.

I circled the pond in just a few moments, but as I approached the building, I returned to the original green color. Nanzenji temple itself, with its many trees, gave the impression of green, and the brick-red Suiroku (aqueduct) provided a contrast, but it was at the Nanzenin Temple at the far end that I once again discovered the depth of the green. Au-delà de “Suirokaku” au temple Nanzenin

Savez-vous qu’il y a un aqueduc dans l’enceinte du temple Nanzenji qui ressemble à un aqueduc de Rome ? C’est une scène familière qui apparaît parfois dans les drames à suspense. Après avoir traversé le Suirokaku (aqueduc) et monté les marches en pierre, vous trouverez le temple Nanzenin, le sous-temple du temple Nanzenji.

Cela fait longtemps que je suis curieux de la connaître, mais je n’ai jamais eu le temps de la visiter. Cette fois-ci, j’avais prévu de venir à proximité pour rendre visite à une organisation membre qui soutient mon lieu de travail, et je l’ai donc visité pendant mon temps libre. Après avoir terminé la réception et être entré dans le bâtiment, j’ai pu voir la verdure éclatante du jardin à travers le bâtiment.

N’importe où, un jardin vert.

Mon impression de ce jardin était le “vert” lui-même. Le fait que je l’aie visité pendant la saison des pluies au Japon a peut-être eu une certaine influence, mais tout l’espace était coloré en vert jaunâtre, vert bleuté et vert véritable. Même l’étang était couvert de vert avec des plantes aquatiques flottantes.

J’ai fait le tour de l’étang. En chemin, il y a une petite cascade dont l’eau semble se déverser dans l’étang. Les pierres autour de la cascade sont colorées en vert foncé par la mousse. De là, en regardant dans la direction d’où je venais, un monde entouré de vert jaunâtre apparaît, selon la lumière.

J’ai fait le tour de l’étang en quelques instants, mais en m’approchant du bâtiment, j’ai retrouvé la couleur verte d’origine. Le temple Nanzenji lui-même, avec ses nombreux arbres, donnait une impression de vert, et le Suiroku (aqueduc) rouge brique offrait un contraste, mais c’est au temple Nanzenin, tout au bout, que j’ai découvert une fois de plus la profondeur du vert.
