小学校時代の親子ハイキング
新西国霊場の客番の１つ、檜尾山 観心寺（高野山真言宗）は私にとって思い出深い場所です。40年以上前のことですが、1979年11月4日（日）、当時小学校5年生だった私はPTAが開催した親子ハイキングに参加し、ルート上にあったこの観心寺で昼食を食べたと記憶しています。
江夏の21球
なぜ、日にちまで正確に覚えているかといいますと、この日は、プロ野球界の伝説にもなっている「江夏の21球」が投じられた日でもあります。広島と近鉄との日本シリーズ第7戦、息をつけないほどのゲーム展開の中、ハイキングしながらも友達の携帯ラジオから流れてくる実況中継を聞きながら、近鉄の勝利を願っていました。結局、負けてしまいましたが。
そんな思いでの中、本当に久しぶりに観心寺まで来ました。こちらも「中世に出逢えるまち」の構成要素として日本遺産に認定されています。河内長野駅からバスできましたが、バス停から少し歩くと、楠木正成の像がお迎えしてくれました。
有名な如意輪観音菩薩
山門を通って金堂までは一本道の坂になっています。軽快な足取りで金堂まで来ました。ここのお寺の本尊は如意輪観音菩薩です。ただし、御開帳は4月の決められた日だけですので、今回もお会いすることはできませんでした。写真は教科書や歴史の資料に載るほど有名なので、おそらく通訳ガイドの皆さまはご覧になったことがあると思います。
金堂をお参りしたあと、境内を散策しました。金堂から楠木正成の首塚に行くまでに開けたスペースがあるので、おそらくこの辺りでハイキングの時は弁当を食べたと思います。小学校の時のことなので、正確なイメージは思い出せませんが、なんとなくそう感じました。
心に残る非日常の体験
当時はお寺には全く関心がなかったと思うのですが、改めて訪れてみると、子供時代の原風景の一つとして、自分の中に刻まれていたのだなと思います。非日常の所に出かける体験というのは大事だと感じた訪問でした。（完）

Kanshinji Temple （Osaka）
Hiking with parents and children in elementary school
One of the guest posts of the New Saigoku Sacred Sites, Hinozan Kanshinji Temple (Koyasan Shingon sect) is a memorable place for me. More than 40 years ago, on Sunday, November 4, 1979, when I was in the 5th grade of elementary school, I participated in a parent-child hiking trip organized by the PTA. I remember having lunch there.
Enatsu’s 21 pitches
The reason I remember the date so precisely is that it was the day Enatsu’s 21 pitches, which have become legendary in the world of professional baseball, were thrown. It was Game 7 of the Japan Series between Hiroshima Carp and the Kintetsu Buffaloes, and as the game unfolded breathlessly, I was hiking and listening to the play-by-play broadcast coming from my friend’s portable radio, hoping for a Kintetsu victory. In the end, they lost.
With this in mind, I came to Kanshinji Temple for the first time in a really long time. This temple is also recognized as a Japan Heritage site as a component of the “Town where you can encounter the Middle Ages”. I took a bus from Kawachinagano Station, and after a short walk from the bus stop, I was welcomed by a statue of Masashige Kusunoki, one of famous Samurai Warriors in the Middle Ages.
Famous Bodhisattva Nyorin Kannon
There is a straight slope through the gate to Kondo Hall. I came to Kondo Hall with light steps. The main deity of this temple is Nyoirin Kannon Bosatsu. However, I was not able to see it this time either, since the Gokaicho (Public Opening) is held only on a certain day in April. The picture is so famous that it appears in textbooks and history materials, and I am sure that all interpreter-guides have probably seen it before.
After visiting Kondo Hall, I strolled around the precincts of the temple. There is an open space from the Kondo Hall to the head mound of Masashige Kusunoki, so perhaps this is where I ate my lunch when hiking. I was in elementary school, so I can’t recall the exact image, but it somehow felt that way.
A memorable and extraordinary experience
I don’t think I had any interest in temples at the time, but visiting them again, I realize that they were etched in my mind as one of the original landscapes of my childhood. This visit made me realize how important it is to have the experience of going out of the ordinary. (End)
Temple Kanshinji （Osaka）
Randonnée avec les parents et les enfants de l’école primaire
Le temple Hinozan Kanshinji (secte Shingon de Koyasan), l’un des postes invités des nouveaux sites sacrés de Saigoku, est un lieu mémorable pour moi. Il y a plus de 40 ans, le dimanche 4 novembre 1979, alors que j’étais en cinquième année d’école primaire, j’ai participé à une randonnée parents-enfants organisée par l’association des parents d’élèves. Je me souviens d’y avoir déjeuné.
Les 21 pitches d’Enatsu
Si je me souviens de cette date avec autant de précision, c’est parce que c’est le jour où les 21 lancers d’Enatsu, devenus légendaires dans le monde du baseball professionnel, ont été effectués. C’était le septième match des Japan Series entre les Hiroshima Carp et les Kintetsu Buffaloes, et alors que le match se déroulait de façon haletante, je me promenais et écoutais le play-by-play diffusé par la radio portable de mon ami, espérant une victoire des Kintetsu. Au final, ils ont perdu.
C’est dans cet esprit que je suis venu au temple Kanshinji pour la première fois depuis très longtemps. Ce temple est également reconnu comme un site du patrimoine japonais en tant que composante de la “Ville où l’on peut rencontrer le Moyen Âge”. J’ai pris un bus à la gare de Kawachinagano, et après une courte marche depuis l’arrêt de bus, j’ai été accueilli par une statue de Masashige Kusunoki, l’un des célèbres guerriers samouraïs du Moyen Âge.
Célèbre bodhisattva Nyorin Kannon
Il y a une pente droite à travers la porte jusqu’à la salle Kondo. Je suis arrivé au Kondo Hall avec des pas légers. La divinité principale de ce temple est Nyoirin Kannon Bosatsu. Cependant, je n’ai pas pu le voir cette fois non plus, car le Gokaicho (ouverture publique) n’a lieu qu’un certain jour d’avril. L’image est si célèbre qu’elle apparaît dans les manuels scolaires et les documents d’histoire, et je suis sûr que tous les guides-interprètes l’ont probablement déjà vue.
Après avoir visité le Kondo Hall, je me suis promené dans l’enceinte du temple. Il y a un espace ouvert entre le Kondo Hall et le monticule de Masashige Kusunoki. C’est peut-être là que j’ai mangé mon déjeuner lors d’une randonnée. J’étais à l’école primaire, je ne me souviens donc pas de l’image exacte, mais c’est ce que j’ai ressenti.
Une expérience mémorable et extraordinaire
Je ne pense pas que j’avais un quelconque intérêt pour les temples à l’époque, mais en les visitant à nouveau, je me rends compte qu’ils étaient gravés dans mon esprit comme l’un des paysages originaux de mon enfance. Cette visite m’a fait comprendre combien il est important de faire l’expérience de sortir de l’ordinaire. (Fin)
