聖徳太子ゆかりの太子町
大阪に太子町という町があります。御想像の通り聖徳太子にゆかりのある土地で、新西国霊場の第8番と客番の札所2カ所があります。近鉄線の喜志駅から金剛バスに乗り太子前にて下車すると、西方院につづく階段のすぐ前になります。
日本初の尼寺
ここは、日本初の尼寺とも言われるお寺です。いただいたパンフレットによりますと、聖徳太子が生まれた時に、御そばに付く女性として容顔美麗な方を、百人の美女の中から三人を選び出して、その名を月姫、日姫、玉照姫とされたそうです。
その三人の乳母が、太子の死後、髪を剃り、太子御廟の近くにて太子菩提のために建てたお寺が現在の西方院だそうです。一旦、荒廃しましたが、蓮誉寿正尼が中興後、西方院と呼ばれています。本堂には太子像と、この三尼公の木像が置かれていて、最初にお参りをしました。
伝説の多い聖徳太子
のんびりしたお寺で、本堂に一人上がり込んでいました。御朱印をいただくため、本堂からお寺の方をお呼びして、書いていただきました。聖徳太子は謎が多いので、どこまで史実なのかわからないのですが、太子が広く信仰されていたことは間違いないでしょう。こちらにも聖徳太子作と伝えられる阿弥陀如来立像があります。
本堂を出た後、観音堂にお参りしました。十一面観世音菩薩様が鎮座されているのを開いた障子越しに拝観しましたところ、こちらに優しい表情を向けていただけました。（完）

Taishi Town associated with Prince Shotoku
There is a town in Osaka called Taishi-cho. As you may have guessed, the town is associated with Prince Shotoku, and is home to two sacred sites, the 8th and the guest site of the New Saigoku Sacred Sites. Take the Kongo Bus from Kishi Station on the Kintetsu Line and get off at Taishi-mae, just in front of the stairs leading to Saihoin Temple.
Japan’s first nunnery
This temple is said to be the first nun temple in Japan. According to the pamphlet I received, when Prince Shotoku was born, three women with beautiful faces were chosen from among 100 beautiful women to accompany him, and they were named Tsukihime, Hihime, and Tamateruhime.
After Taishi’s death, these three nannies shaved their hair and built a temple near his mausoleum for his repose, which is now Seihoin Temple. The temple once fell into disrepair, but was later renamed Seiho-in Temple after it was rebuilt by Ren’ei Jusho-ni. In the main hall, a statue of the Taishi and wooden statues of these three nuns are placed, and I paid my first visit.
Prince Shotoku with many legends
It was a relaxing temple, and I was alone in the main hall. To get a red seal, I called the temple staff from the main hall and asked her to write it down for me. Since Prince Shotoku is a mystery, I am not sure how much of this is historical fact, but there is no doubt that he was widely worshipped. Here, too, there is a standing statue of Amida Nyorai, said to have been made by Prince Shotoku.
After leaving the main hall, I visited the Kannon Hall. Through the open shoji (paper sliding door), I saw the eleven-faced Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) seated in the hall, and she was looking kindly at me. (End)

La ville de Taishi associée au prince Shotoku
Il y a une ville à Osaka appelée Taishi-cho. Comme vous l’avez peut-être deviné, la ville est associée au prince Shotoku et abrite deux sites sacrés, le 8e et le site des invités des nouveaux sites sacrés de Saigoku. Prenez le Kongo Bus à la station Kishi sur la ligne Kintetsu et descendez à Taishi-mae, juste en face des escaliers menant au temple Saihoin.
Le premier couvent du Japon
On dit que ce temple est le premier temple de nonnes au Japon. Selon la brochure que j’ai reçue, lorsque le prince Shotoku est né, trois femmes aux beaux visages ont été choisies parmi 100 belles femmes pour l’accompagner, et elles ont été nommées Tsukihime, Hihime et Tamateruhime.
Après la mort de Taishi, ces trois nourrices se sont rasées les cheveux et ont construit un temple près de son mausolée pour son repos, qui est aujourd’hui le temple Seihoin. Le temple est tombé en ruine, mais a été rebaptisé temple Seiho-in après avoir été reconstruit par Ren’ei Jusho-ni. Dans le hall principal, une statue du Taishi et des statues en bois de ces trois nonnes sont placées, et j’ai fait ma première visite.
Le prince Shotoku avec de nombreuses légendes
C’était un temple relaxant, et j’étais seul dans le hall principal. Pour obtenir un sceau rouge, j’ai appelé le personnel du temple depuis la salle principale et lui ai demandé de l’écrire pour moi. Le prince Shotoku étant un mystère, je ne suis pas sûr de la part de faits historiques, mais il ne fait aucun doute qu’il était largement vénéré. Ici aussi, il y a une statue debout d’Amida Nyorai, dont on dit qu’elle a été réalisée par le prince Shotoku.
Après avoir quitté le hall principal, j’ai visité le hall Kannon. Par le shoji ouvert (porte coulissante en papier), j’ai vu la Kannon (déesse de la miséricorde) à onze visages, assise dans le hall, et elle me regardait gentiment. (Fin)
