都会のオアシス的な庭園
JR京都駅から歩いて10分の距離に東本願寺の庭園、渉成園があります。京都駅から近いので、いつでも行けるだろうと考えていたのですが、なかなかチャンスに恵まれず、今回、近くに行く仕事がありましたので、訪問してきました。
印月池（いんげつち）と呼ばれる池を中心に回遊して楽しむ池泉回遊式庭園です。街中にあるので、景色の中に周辺のビルが見える都会のオアシス的な存在です。当日は雨でしたので、私以外の訪問客はおらず、1人でのんびりと庭園散策を楽しめました。
緑の水面とさまざまな建物
時計と反対廻りで回りましたので、最初に臨池亭の横から庭の景色を楽しみました。次に傍花楼の周りを歩いてから、池に向かいます。池の奥側の水面には藻が浮いているのでしょうか、一面緑色になっています。
さらに奥へ進んでいくと回棹廊という屋根付きの橋が架かっています。この橋の上からは両側の緑色の水面を楽しむことができます。晴れた日の夜には、水面に反射した月も見られるのかなと思いながら橋を渡っていきました。
京都タワーを借景に取り込んだ庭園
藻の浮いていない水面に架かる侵雪橋からは京都タワーが借景となっていて、現代の京都も取り込んだ庭の景色を見ることができます。前に別のお寺の方に聞いた話ですが、京都にはたくさんのお寺の総本山があるので、全国の末寺を通してお金が集まって来て、それらのお金が料亭や庭園や他の文化財の保護・発展に回っているそうです。この渉成園を京都の真ん中で維持できるのも、全国の檀家さん達のお陰なのかもしれません。（完）

渉成園については記載されていませんが、渉成園を作庭したと言われる石川丈山の隠居所、詩仙堂をはじめ、沢山の庭について解説がされています。

Shoseien Garden (Kyoto)
Urban oasis garden
A 10-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station is Shoseien, the garden of Higashi Honganji Temple. Since it is close to Kyoto Station, I thought I could visit there anytime I wanted, but I never had a chance.
It is a garden with a pond called Ingetsuchi (Ingetsu Pond) as its centerpiece. Located in the city, it is an oasis in the city where you can see the surrounding buildings in the scenery. Since it was raining on the day of my visit, there were no visitors other than myself, and I was able to enjoy a leisurely stroll around the garden by myself.
Green water surface and various buildings
I went around in the opposite direction of the clock, so I first enjoyed the view of the garden from the side of Rinchi-tei Pavilion. Next, I walked around the Byakka-ro before heading to the pond. The surface of the water on the far side of the pond was green with algae floating on the surface.
Further in the back, there is a covered bridge called Kaisorou. From the bridge, visitors can enjoy the green surface of the water on both sides. On a clear night, I crossed the bridge, wondering if I would be able to see the moon reflected on the surface of the water.
Garden with Kyoto Tower in the borrowed scenery
From the Shinsetsu Bridge, which spans the algae-free surface of the water, you can see a borrowed view of Kyoto Tower and a view of the garden that also incorporates modern Kyoto. I was told once by another temple owner that since Kyoto is the head temple of many temples, money is collected through the end temples all over the country, and these monies go to protect and develop ryotei (Japanese high-grade restaurant), gardens, and other cultural assets. Perhaps it is thanks to the money raised by parishioners from all over the country that Shoseien can be maintained right here in the middle of Kyoto. (End)

Jardin oasis urbain
À 10 minutes de marche de la gare JR de Kyoto se trouve Shoseien, le jardin du temple Higashi Honganji. Comme il est proche de la gare de Kyoto, je pensais pouvoir m’y rendre quand je le voulais, mais je n’en ai jamais eu l’occasion.
Il s’agit d’un jardin dont la pièce maîtresse est un étang appelé Ingetsuchi (étang d’Ingetsu). Situé dans la ville, c’est une oasis dans la ville où l’on peut voir les bâtiments environnants dans le paysage. Comme il pleuvait le jour de ma visite, il n’y avait pas d’autres visiteurs que moi, et j’ai pu profiter d’une promenade tranquille dans le jardin par moi-même.
Surface d’eau verte et divers bâtiments
J’ai fait le tour dans le sens inverse de l’horloge, ce qui m’a permis de profiter d’abord de la vue sur le jardin depuis le côté du pavillon Rinchi-tei. Ensuite, j’ai fait le tour du Byakka-ro avant de me diriger vers l’étang. La surface de l’eau de l’autre côté de l’étang était verte avec des algues flottant à la surface.
Plus loin à l’arrière, il y a un pont couvert appelé Kaisorou. Depuis le pont, les visiteurs peuvent apprécier la surface verte de l’eau des deux côtés. Par une nuit claire, j’ai traversé le pont en me demandant si je pourrais voir la lune se refléter sur la surface de l’eau.
Jardin avec la tour de Kyoto dans un décor emprunté
Depuis le pont Shinsetsu, qui enjambe la surface de l’eau exempte d’algues, on peut voir une vue empruntée de la tour de Kyoto et une vue du jardin qui intègre également le Kyoto moderne. Un autre propriétaire de temple m’a dit un jour qu’étant donné que Kyoto est le temple principal de nombreux temples, l’argent est collecté par l’intermédiaire des temples secondaires dans tout le pays, et ces fonds servent à protéger et à développer les ryotei (restaurant japonais de qualité supérieure), les jardins et d’autres biens culturels. C’est peut-être grâce à l’argent collecté par les paroissiens de tout le pays que le Shoseien peut être maintenu ici, au milieu de Kyoto. (Fin)
