本殿でお参りした後は、いよいよ千本鳥居に向かいますが、途中、社務所で絵馬やお守りが売られています。正月に行くと干支の図柄が入った普通の絵馬が掛けられていますが、普段は、朱色の鳥居の形をした絵馬がかかっています。中国語や英語に混じって、タイ語らしき文字でかかれている絵馬も発見しました。
人の流れに乗って、石段を登っていくと千本鳥居の入口まで来ました。少し前までは電通の大きな鳥居が最初にありましたが、その後、花王の鳥居がその前に出来ました。映画「SAYURI」で千本鳥居のシーンが撮影されて以来と言われていますが、訪日外国人にとても人気のあるスポットになりました。
ここでは皆さん写真を撮るのに大忙しです。後ろから人の波が押し上げてきますが、それに負けず、鳥居の前でポーズを決めながら写真を撮ってもらっている人が多いです。また、夏には浴衣を着た観光客も沢山歩いています。
いつも満員なので、鳥居だけが並んだ写真を撮ることは難しいです。ときどき、人の波の切れ間がありますが、それも一瞬なので、シャッターチャンスは非常に限られています。それでも、何回も通っている内に、自分の前に、まったく人がいない瞬間に遭遇することがあります。私も年に１～２回、そういうチャンスに巡り合い、何枚も写真を撮りました。
今は、コロナ禍となり、訪日外国人が皆無になりましたので、私自身、ここしばらく訪問できていません。少し前になりますが、ゆっくり訪問したいと思い、妻と二人で行きました。人の少ない千本鳥居をブラブラ歩くのも、とても風情があって、落ち着いた気分になりました。（完）

Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine (3) Senbon-torii (Gateway to the Shrine) (Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture)
After praying at the main shrine, you will finally head for the Senbon-torii, where ema (votive picture tablet) and good luck charms are sold at the shrine office on the way. We also found emas written in Thai-like characters mixed with Chinese and English.
Riding the flow of people up the stone steps, we came to the entrance of the Senbon-torii. Not long ago, a large torii gate of Dentsu was the first one, but later a torii gate of Kao was built in front of it. It is said that since the scene of the Senbon-Torii was filmed in the movie “Sayuri,” it has become a very popular spot for foreigners visiting Japan.
Everyone is busy taking pictures here. Waves of people are surging up from behind, but not to be outdone, many people are having their pictures taken while posing in front of the torii gate. Also, in summer, there are many tourists in yukata walking around.
It is always packed, so it is difficult to take a picture with only the torii gate lined up. Sometimes there is a break in the wave of people, but it is only for a moment, so shutter opportunities are very limited. Even so, after passing by many times, you may encounter a moment when there are no people at all in front of you. Once or twice a year, I too have come across such a chance and taken many pictures.
Now that the Covid-19 pandemic has occurred and there are no foreigners visiting, I myself have not been able to visit for some time now. A while ago, my wife and I decided that we wanted to take some time to visit. It was very tasteful and relaxing to wander around the Senbon-torii gate with few people. (End)

Après avoir prié au sanctuaire principal, vous vous dirigerez finalement vers le Senbon-torii, où des ema (tablette d’images votives) et des porte-bonheur sont vendus au bureau du sanctuaire sur le chemin. Nous avons également trouvé des emas écrits en caractères thaïs mélangés à des caractères chinois et anglais.
En suivant le flot de personnes qui montent les marches en pierre, nous sommes arrivés à l’entrée du Senbon-torii. Il n’y a pas si longtemps, une grande porte torii de Dentsu était la première, mais plus tard, une porte torii de Kao a été construite en face d’elle. On dit que depuis que la scène du Senbon-Torii a été filmée dans le film “Sayuri”, elle est devenue un endroit très populaire pour les étrangers visitant le Japon.
Tout le monde est occupé à prendre des photos ici. Des vagues de personnes déferlent par derrière, mais pour ne pas être en reste, de nombreuses personnes se font prendre en photo en posant devant la porte du torii. De plus, en été, de nombreux touristes en yukata se promènent.
C’est toujours bondé, il est donc difficile de prendre une photo avec seulement la porte du torii alignée. Parfois, il y a une pause dans la vague de gens, mais ce n’est que pour un moment, donc les possibilités de prendre des photos sont très limitées. Malgré tout, après être passé plusieurs fois devant, vous pouvez rencontrer un moment où il n’y a pas du tout de gens devant vous. Une ou deux fois par an, j’ai moi aussi rencontré une telle chance et pris de nombreuses photos.
Maintenant que la pandémie de Covid-19 a eu lieu et qu’il n’y a plus d’étrangers en visite, je n’ai moi-même pas pu m’y rendre depuis un certain temps. Il y a quelque temps, ma femme et moi avons décidé que nous voulions prendre le temps de visiter. C’était très agréable et relaxant de se promener autour de la porte Senbon-torii avec peu de personnes. (Fin)
