燈花会

関東の留学生に関西を案内

大学の夏休み期間中に、関東の留学生に関西を案内しようという企画を立て、財団の基金をいただいて伊勢、奈良、京都の順番に巡る旅を実施しました。東京を新幹線で朝早く出て、名古屋で近鉄線に乗り換えて、お伊勢参りを行った後、奈良までバスでやって来ました。

燈花会に遭遇

ちょうどその夜は、燈花会に当たる日で、夕食の後、同行のガイドさんにお願いして、留学生たちに対し、特別に古の都、奈良の幻想的な風景を案内していただきました。猿沢の池越しに見る興福寺の五重の塔は、ライトアップされていて、その光も池の水面に反射していました。

みんなで五十二段（興福寺へ上る石段の名称）を上って五重塔の前まで来ました。私もよく奈良に来ますが、夕方には大阪に返りますので、ライトアップされた五重塔を見るのは初めてでした。明るすぎず、仄かな光で照らされている五重塔は、空中に浮かんでいるようにも見えます。

浮御堂では月も出ていました

少し足を延ばして浮御堂まで行ってみました。大勢の人が暗い中、集まっています。家族ずれも多く、たくさん子供たちの声が響いていました。池の水面上に建つ浮御堂の上に、月が出ています。古代の人は、月をよく愛でていたようですが、こういう風景だったのでしょうか。現代人にとっても、癒される光景です。

五十二段に戻ってきました。石段の端に置かれた灯火が一列に並んでいます。この夜、燈花会を見た留学生たちは、翌朝、東大寺で大仏さんの埃を払うお身ぬぐいという行事と、大仏殿の屋根から水が噴き出す防火訓練にも遭遇するという、ラッキーな方々でした。（完）

Tokae Festival

Introducing Kansai to International Students from Kanto Region

During the summer vacation of universities, I planned a trip to show Kansai to foreign students from the Kanto region, and with the help of a foundation fund, I organized a trip to Ise, Nara, and Kyoto in that order. We left Tokyo early in the morning on the Shinkansen bullet train, changed to the Kintetsu line at Nagoya, visited Ise, and then came to Nara by bus.

Encountering the Toka-E Festival
After dinner, we asked our guide to show us the fantastic scenery of Nara, the ancient capital of Japan. The five-story pagoda of Kofukuji Temple seen over Sarusawa Pond was lit up and its light reflected on the surface of the pond.

We all climbed up the 52 steps (the name of the stone steps going up to Kofukuji Temple) to the front of the five-story pagoda. I often visit Nara but return to Osaka in the evening, so this was the first time for me to see the five-story pagoda lit up. The five-story pagoda, illuminated not too brightly but with a faint light, seemed to be floating in the air.

The moon was also shining at the Floating Hall.

I took a short walk to Ukimido, where many people were gathering in the dark. Many people were gathering in the dark. There were many families, and many children’s voices echoed in the air. The moon was rising above the floating hall, which stands on the surface of the pond. People in ancient times used to love the moon, and I wonder if this is the kind of scenery they saw. It is a soothing sight for modern people as well.

We returned to the 52nd step. Lanterns placed at the edge of the stone steps are lined up in a row. The international students who saw the Lantern Festival this night were the lucky ones who also encountered the event of ominugui (dusting off the Great Buddha) at Todaiji Temple the next morning, as well as a fire drill in which water spurts from the roof of the Great Buddha Hall. Présentation du Kansai aux étudiants étrangers de la région de Kanto

Pendant les vacances d’été des universités, j’ai planifié un voyage pour faire découvrir le Kansai aux étudiants étrangers de la région du Kanto. Avec l’aide d’un fonds de fondation, j’ai organisé un voyage à Ise, Nara et Kyoto dans cet ordre. Nous avons quitté Tokyo tôt le matin par le train à grande vitesse Shinkansen, avons changé pour la ligne Kintetsu à Nagoya, avons visité Ise, puis sommes arrivés à Nara en bus.

À la rencontre du festival Toka-E
Après le dîner, nous avons demandé à notre guide de nous montrer les fantastiques paysages de Nara, l’ancienne capitale du Japon. La pagode à cinq étages du temple Kofukuji, vue sur l’étang de Sarusawa, était éclairée et sa lumière se reflétait sur la surface de l’étang.

Nous avons tous grimpé les 52 marches (le nom des marches en pierre qui montent au temple Kofukuji) jusqu’à l’avant de la pagode à cinq étages. Je visite souvent Nara mais je rentre à Osaka le soir. C’était donc la première fois que je voyais la pagode à cinq étages illuminée. La pagode à cinq étages, éclairée pas trop fort mais avec une lumière faible, semblait flotter dans l’air.

La lune brillait également sur la salle flottante.

J’ai fait une courte promenade jusqu’à Ukimido, où de nombreuses personnes se sont rassemblées dans l’obscurité. Beaucoup de gens se rassemblaient dans l’obscurité. Il y avait beaucoup de familles, et les voix des enfants résonnaient dans l’air. La lune se levait au-dessus de la salle flottante, qui se trouve à la surface de l’étang. Dans les temps anciens, les gens aimaient la lune, et je me demande si c’est le genre de paysage qu’ils voyaient. C’est une vue apaisante pour les gens modernes aussi.

Nous sommes retournés à la 52ème marche. Les lanternes placées au bord des marches en pierre sont alignées en une rangée. Les étudiants étrangers qui ont assisté au festival des lanternes ce soir-là ont eu la chance d’assister à l’ominugui (dépoussiérage du Grand Bouddha) au temple Todaiji le lendemain matin, ainsi qu’à un exercice d’incendie au cours duquel de l’eau a jailli du toit de la salle du Grand Bouddha.
