1615年に天海大僧正が後陽成上皇より京都の法勝寺（歴代天皇のお受戒の寺）を賜り移築され、1655年に後水尾天皇より滋賀院の号を賜った。当時の建築物は明治10年に発生した火災で全焼し、現在の建築明治12年に延暦寺の山上にあった建築物を移築し、再現したものである。
建物内部の見学を始めると、最初に目に入るのが、不滅の法灯。比叡山にて天台宗を開いた最澄が、つけた火が今にも伝わっていると言われます。延暦寺の根本中堂でも見たことがありますが、ここでも見られるとは想像していなかっただけに、驚きました。
建物内を移動すると、天台宗のトップである天台座主が使用された長棒と呼ばれる籠が展示してあります。まるで大名のような乗り物ですが、自動車のようなサスペンションもなく、左右に揺れる構造ですから、長時間乗るには体力的に厳しいと思われます。天台座主は高僧ですから、それなりに年齢が高かったでしょうから、これはキツイ乗り物だったようです。
歴史的遺物を見た後、ようやく小堀遠州が作庭したと言われる庭にたどり着きました。真夏に来たので緑が鮮やかです。細長い石橋が池泉を中央で分断しています。この細長い切り石の橋が庭のアクセントになっていて、すごく目を惹きつけます。
久々に庭をじっくり鑑賞しました。正面に見える石の灯籠も趣があります。背がそれほど高くないので、全体的に落ち着いた雰囲気を作っています。すごい特徴があるという訳でもないのですが、縁側でのんびり眺めるのには、飽きないと思います。（完）

Shiga-in Monzeki Temple (Sakamoto, Shiga)
In 1615, High Priest Tenkai received a gift from Emperor Goyozei of Hosho-ji Temple in Kyoto (the temple where successive emperors received their ordinances), and moved the temple to this location. The building was destroyed by fire in 1877, and the present building was extended in 1877.
The present structure was relocated and recreated from a building on top of Enryaku-ji Temple in 1879.
As I begin my tour inside the building, the first thing I saw was the indestructible Buddhist lantern. It is said that the fire lit by Saicho, the founder of the Tendai sect of Buddhism on Mt. Hiei. I had seen this lantern in the Kompon Chudo Hall of Enryaku-ji Temple, but I was surprised to see it here as well, as I had never imagined that I would see it here.
Moving around the building, a palanquin called a nagabo, which was used by the head of the Tendai sect, Tendai Zasu, is on display. It looks like a lord’s vehicle, but it has no suspension like a car and sways from side to side, so it would be physically demanding to ride it for a long time. Since the Tendai Zasu was a high priest, he must have been of a certain age, so this must have been a hard ride for him.
After seeing the historical relics, I finally reached the garden said to have been created by Enshu Kobori. Since I came in mid-summer, the greenery was vibrant. A long and narrow stone bridge divides the pond fountain in the center. This long and narrow cut stone bridge accents the garden and is very eye-catching.
It has been a long time since I took the time to appreciate the garden. The stone lantern in the front is also very elegant. It is not very tall, so it creates a calm atmosphere overall. It is not a very special place, but it is a place to relax on the porch and enjoy the view. (End)
Temple Shiga-in Monzeki (Sakamoto, Shiga)
En 1615, le grand prêtre Tenkai a reçu un cadeau de l’empereur Goyozei du temple Hosho-ji à Kyoto (le temple où les empereurs successifs ont reçu leurs ordonnances), et a déplacé le temple à cet endroit. Le bâtiment a été détruit par un incendie en 1877, et le bâtiment actuel a été agrandi en 1877.
La structure actuelle a été déplacée et recréée à partir d’un bâtiment situé au-dessus du temple Enryaku-ji en 1879.
Lorsque je commence ma visite à l’intérieur du bâtiment, la première chose que je vois est l’indestructible lanterne bouddhiste. On dit qu’elle a été allumée par Saicho, le fondateur de la secte bouddhiste Tendai sur le mont Hiei. J’avais vu cette lanterne dans la salle Kompon Chudo du temple Enryaku-ji, mais j’ai été surpris de la voir ici aussi, car je n’avais jamais imaginé la voir ici.
En se déplaçant dans le bâtiment, on peut voir un palanquin appelé nagabo, qui était utilisé par le chef de la secte Tendai, Tendai Zasu. Il ressemble à un véhicule de seigneur, mais il n’a pas de suspension comme une voiture et oscille d’un côté à l’autre, il serait donc physiquement exigeant de le monter pendant une longue période. Comme le Tendai Zasu était un grand prêtre, il devait être d’un certain âge, et le trajet a dû être difficile pour lui.
Après avoir vu les reliques historiques, j’ai finalement atteint le jardin que l’on dit avoir été créé par Enshu Kobori. Comme je suis venu au milieu de l’été, la verdure était éclatante. Un pont de pierre long et étroit divise la fontaine de l’étang au centre. Ce long et étroit pont en pierre taillée met en valeur le jardin et attire le regard.
Cela faisait longtemps que je n’avais pas pris le temps d’apprécier ce jardin. La lanterne de pierre à l’avant est également très élégante. Elle n’est pas très haute, ce qui crée une atmosphère calme dans l’ensemble. Ce n’est pas un endroit très spécial, mais c’est un endroit où l’on peut se détendre sous le porche et profiter de la vue.
