金閣寺② 池の周りを回遊（京都府京都市）

金閣寺は鏡湖池を中心とした回遊式庭園ですから、皆さんも池の対岸にある金閣寺をバックにして写真撮影したあと、反時計回りに鏡湖池の周囲を歩いていくと思います。季節によっては、池の周りに花が咲いていることもあります。私は菖蒲が咲いている時期が好きです。

　

歩いていると右側に、ほとんどの人が素通りする方丈を通過します。建物の内部を見ることができないので残念ですが、ときどき、戸が開いていて、中にある襖絵が見えたりします。私自身はラッキーと感じますが、大多数の観光客は気づきもせずに通過していきます。方丈の前にある枯山水の庭も、簡素ですが、落ち着きを感じます。

　

もう少し進むと、今度は「陸舟の松」が右手に出てきます。少し右側に入り込まないといけませんが、私がお願いするガイドさんたちは、皆さんこの松を紹介してくれます。室町幕府第3代将軍、足利義満が愛した盆栽の松を移し替えて、育った松です。立派なものです。

松の形を見ると、船っぽく見えますよね。この形は、ここだけではないので、いろんな場所で見ることができると思います。船が、大きな帆を広げて大海原を走っている様子です。ここまで育つのに600年だそうです。船が向かうのはどこでしょうか？もちろん、西方浄土を目指して進んでいます。

西に浄土があるというのは、万国共通なのでしょう。陽が沈む場所に、終焉の地があると古代から人々は考えていたと思います。インドのガンジス川西岸、エジプトのナイル川西岸、どちらも死の世界がある方向と考えられていたと聞いたことがあります。それでは、もう少し池の周りを巡って行きましょう。（完）

Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion) Temple (2) Tour around the Kyokochi pond (Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture)

Since Kinkakuji Temple is a circular garden centering on Kyokochi Pond, everyone will probably walk counterclockwise around Kyokochi Pond after taking a picture with Golden Pavilion on the opposite side of the pond in the background. Depending on the season, there may be flowers blooming around the pond. I like the time of year when the irises are in bloom.

On the right side of the walk, you will pass Hojo (Main Hall), which most people pass by unnoticed. It is unfortunate that you cannot see the inside of the building, but sometimes doors are open and you can see the fusuma paintings inside. I myself feel lucky, but the majority of tourists pass by without noticing. The dry landscape garden in front of the Hojo is also simple, but it is relaxing.

A little further on, you will now come to the “Rikufune-no-matsu” (Pine Tree of the Land Boat) on your right. You have to go into the right side a little bit, but all the guides I ask will introduce this pine tree to the guests. It is a pine tree that grew out of a relocated bonsai pine tree loved by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the third shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate. It is a magnificent one.

If you look at the shape of the pine tree, it looks like a ship. This shape is not only here, and you can see it in many places. It looks like a ship sailing on the ocean with its big sails spread out. It takes 600 years to grow up to this point. Where is the ship headed? Of course, it is proceeding toward the Western Pure Land.

The idea that there is a Pure Land to the west must be universal. I believe that people have believed since ancient times that the place where the sun sets is the place where they will end their lives. I have heard that the west bank of the Ganges River in India and the west bank of the Nile River in Egypt were both thought to be the direction where the world of death lies. Now, let’s go around the pond some more. (End)

Temple Kinkakuji (Pavillon d’or) (2) Circuit autour de l’étang de Kyokochi (ville de Kyoto, préfecture de Kyoto)

Le temple Kinkakuji étant un jardin circulaire centré sur l’étang de Kyokochi, tout le monde marchera probablement dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre autour de l’étang de Kyokochi après avoir pris une photo avec le Pavillon d’or de l’autre côté de l’étang en arrière-plan. Selon la saison, des fleurs peuvent fleurir autour de l’étang. J’aime la période de l’année où les iris sont en fleurs.

Sur le côté droit de la promenade, vous passerez devant le Hojo (hall principal), devant lequel la plupart des gens passent sans le remarquer. Il est regrettable que vous ne puissiez pas voir l’intérieur du bâtiment, mais parfois les portes sont ouvertes et vous pouvez voir les peintures fusuma à l’intérieur. Je me sens moi-même chanceux, mais la majorité des touristes passent devant sans s’en apercevoir. Le jardin paysager sec devant le Hojo est également simple, mais il est relaxant.

Un peu plus loin, vous arriverez maintenant au “Rikufune-no-matsu” (Pin du bateau terrestre) sur votre droite. Il faut aller un peu sur le côté droit, mais tous les guides que je demande présentent ce pin aux clients. Il s’agit d’un pin qui a poussé à partir d’un pin bonsaï déplacé, aimé par Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, le troisième shogun du shogunat Muromachi. Il est magnifique.

Si vous regardez la forme du pin, elle ressemble à un navire. Cette forme n’est pas seulement ici, et vous pouvez la voir dans de nombreux endroits. Elle ressemble à un navire naviguant sur l’océan avec ses grandes voiles déployées. Il faut 600 ans pour qu’il atteigne cette forme. Vers où se dirige le navire ? Bien sûr, il se dirige vers le Pays pur occidental.

L’idée qu’il existe une Terre pure à l’ouest doit être universelle. Je crois que les gens croient depuis les temps anciens que l’endroit où le soleil se couche est l’endroit où ils finiront leur vie. J’ai entendu dire que la rive ouest du Gange en Inde et la rive ouest du Nil en Egypte étaient toutes deux considérées comme la direction où se trouve le monde de la mort. Maintenant, faisons un peu plus le tour de l’étang. (Fin)
