三井寺（園城寺）②三井の晩鐘

約3年ぶりに三井寺に来ました。前回は西国三十三霊場の１つとして訪問し、特別拝見期間であった秘仏を拝むことも出来ました。今回は、敷地内のお寺をいくつか回るために訪問しました。前回訪問した際に、仁王門や鐘の写真を撮りましたが、どういうわけかデータが消えてしまったので、今回はそれらも撮り直しました。

三井寺の鐘は音色が良いことで知られています。古来、形の平等院、銘の神護寺とともに「音の三井寺」として日本三銘鐘の一つに数えられると、いただいた冊子には書かれています。ここでは神護寺の鐘が３つの内の一つに数えられていますが、他の説によれば、神護寺でなく、東大寺の大きな鐘が含まれることもあります。

「音の三井寺」として名高いので、一度、鐘を鳴らしてみることにしました。一回、800円です。御朱印と小さな冊子がセットになっています。前回も鐘を鳴らしてみましたが、録音するのを忘れていました。今回はスマホの録音機能を使って録音してみました。足場が砂利なので、少し砂利を踏む音が入りますが、聞いてみてください。スマホのスピーカーだと聞きづらいので、イヤホーンで聞かれることをおすすめします。

今回、私が鳴らした鐘は、豊臣家による復興事業の一環として鋳造されたもので、初代の鐘は、ひび割れていて境内の別の場所に展示されています。引きずった跡もあるので、「弁慶の引摺り鐘」と呼ばれているそうです。昔の人は、大きいものは何でもない、弁慶の何々と言っていたのがわかります。

金堂に入って、御本尊の弥勒仏をお参りしました。この金堂も秀吉の正妻、北政所により再建されたそうで、桃山時代の建築物らしく、豪華で立派な感じがする建物でした。（完）

Mii Temple (Enjoji Temple) (2) Mii’s Evening Bell

I visited Mii Temple for the first time in about three years. Last time I visited as one of the 33 sacred sites in the western part of Japan, and was also able to see the hidden Buddha, which was during a special viewing period. This time, I visited to visit some of the temples on the site. During my last visit, I took pictures of the Niomon gate and the bell, but somehow the data was lost, so this time I took them again as well.

The bell of Mii Temple is known for its good tone. According to the booklet I received, the temple bell is one of the three most famous bells in Japan, together with Byodoin Temple for its shape and Jingoji Temple for its inscription on the temple’s bell. Although the bell of Jingo-ji Temple is counted here as one of the three, other theories include the large bell of Todai-ji Temple instead of Jingo-ji Temple.

Since the temple is famous as the “Mii Temple of Sound,” I decided to try ringing the bell once. One time, it costs 800 yen. The set includes a red seal and a small booklet. I tried ringing the bell last time, but forgot to record it. This time I recorded it using the recording function of my phone. The scaffolding is gravel, so there is a little gravel treading sound, but you can hear it. It is hard to hear with the phone speaker, so I recommend you to listen with earphones.

The bell I rang this time was cast as part of a reconstruction project by the Toyotomi family. The original bell was cracked and is displayed elsewhere in the temple grounds. It is called “Benkei’s Dragging Bell” because there are drag marks on it. You can see that people in the past used to say that anything big is nothing but Benkei’s something.

I entered the Kondo (main hall) and visited the main deity, Maitreya Buddha. This Kondo was also reconstructed by Kita-no-Mandokoro, Hideyoshi’s wife, and the building looked luxurious and splendid, as if it was built in the Momoyama period. (End)

Temple Mii (Temple Enjoji) (2) La cloche du soir des Mii

J’ai visité le temple Mii pour la première fois depuis environ trois ans. La dernière fois, je l’ai visité comme l’un des 33 sites sacrés de la partie occidentale du Japon, et j’ai également pu voir le Bouddha caché, ce qui était pendant une période d’observation spéciale. Cette fois-ci, je me suis rendu pour visiter certains des temples du site. Lors de ma dernière visite, j’ai pris des photos de la porte Niomon et de la cloche, mais les données ont été perdues, alors cette fois, je les ai prises à nouveau.

La cloche du temple Mii est connue pour sa bonne tonalité. Selon la brochure que j’ai reçue, la cloche du temple est l’une des trois cloches les plus célèbres du Japon, avec celle du temple Byodoin pour sa forme et celle du temple Jingoji pour son inscription sur la cloche du temple. Bien que la cloche du temple Jingo-ji soit comptée ici comme l’une des trois, d’autres théories incluent la grande cloche du temple Todai-ji au lieu du temple Jingo-ji.

Comme le temple est célèbre comme étant le “temple du son Mii”, j’ai décidé d’essayer de faire sonner la cloche une fois. Une fois, cela coûte 800 yens. L’ensemble comprend un sceau rouge et un petit livret. J’ai essayé de faire sonner la cloche la dernière fois, mais j’ai oublié de l’enregistrer. Cette fois, je l’ai enregistré en utilisant la fonction d’enregistrement de mon téléphone. L’échafaudage est en gravier, il y a donc un petit bruit de pas de gravier, mais on peut l’entendre. C’est difficile à entendre avec le haut-parleur du téléphone, je vous recommande donc d’écouter avec des écouteurs.

La cloche que j’ai sonnée cette fois-ci a été coulée dans le cadre d’un projet de reconstruction par la famille Toyotomi. La cloche originale était fêlée et est exposée ailleurs dans le parc du temple. On l’appelle “la cloche de Benkei” car elle porte des marques de traînée. Vous pouvez voir que les gens du passé avaient l’habitude de dire que tout ce qui est grand n’est rien, mais que Benkei est quelque chose.

Je suis entré dans le Kondo (hall principal) et j’ai visité la divinité principale, le Bouddha Maitreya. Ce Kondo a également été reconstruit par Kita-no-Mandokoro, la femme de Hideyoshi, et le bâtiment avait l’air luxueux et splendide, comme s’il avait été construit à l’époque de Momoyama. (Fin)
