飛行神社

私財を投じて創建した飛行神社

京都府八幡市に飛行神社があります。この神社は、1915年に日本で最初に動力飛行機を飛ばした二宮忠八氏により、氏の自邸内に私財を投じて創建されました。京阪電鉄の八幡市駅から歩いて5分程度の所にあります。八幡市には石清水八幡宮に行く人も多いと思います。是非一度、この飛行神社にもお立ち寄りください。

入口近くに大きなジェットエンジン

私邸を神社にしただけあって、通常、私たちがイメージする神社とは異なった雰囲気があります。まず、邸内（境内）に入ると、F104エンジンと呼ばれる航空機用のエンジンがドーンと鎮座しています。まず、このエンジンに見入ってしまいました。

次に手水鉢を見ると、忠八氏が開発していた航空機のスケッチでしょうか、トビウオのようでもあり、カラスのようでもあります。同氏はゴム動力を使った「カラス型飛行器」を作成し、飛行に成功しています。その後、「玉虫型飛行器」を考案されていました。しかしながら、世界初の飛行成功は、ご存知のようにアメリカのライト兄弟が成し遂げました。

大空を志した人間の想い

世界が飛行機の時代になり、飛行機による犠牲者が多くなったことを知った同氏は、同じ大空を志した人間として、これを見過ごすことができないと考え、その霊を慰めるために飛行神社を創建し、自ら神職となられたそうです。

写真撮影はできませんが、隣接する二宮忠八資料館には、同氏の残された自筆の資料や写真、また、航空宇宙関係者から寄贈された模型などが数多く展示されています。日本にも、世界初の飛行機開発を夢見て、あと一歩のところまで迫った人がいたことを、私も覚えておきたいと思います。（完）

Flying shrine @Kyoto

There is a flying shrine in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture. The shrine was built in 1915 by Chuhachi Ninomiya, the first person to fly a powered airplane in Japan, with his own private funds in his own residence. It is a five-minute walk from Yawata City Station on the Keihan Electric Railway Line. Many people go to washimizu Hachimangu Shrine in Yawata City. Please be sure to stop by this flying shrine as well.

Since the shrine is located in a private residence, it has a different atmosphere from what we usually imagine a shrine to be. First of all, when you enter the mansion, you will see a large F104 engine, which is an aircraft engine. First of all, I was fascinated by this engine.

Next, I looked at the water basin, which looked like a flying fish or a crow, perhaps a sketch of the aircraft that Mr. Chuhachi was developing. Chuhachi created a rubber-powered “crow-shaped flying machine” and successfully flew it. Later, he invented the “Jade Beetle Aerostat. However, the world’s first successful flight was made by the Wright Brothers in the U.S., as you know.

When he learned that the world had entered the era of airplanes and that the number of victims of airplanes had increased, he felt that, as a person who had aspired to the skies, he could not overlook this.

Although photography is not allowed, the adjacent Chuhachi Ninomiya Museum displays many of his autographs and photographs, as well as models donated by people in the aerospace industry. I would like to remember that there was a man in Japan who dreamed of developing the world’s first airplane and came very close to doing so. ( End )

Sanctuaire volant @Kyoto

Il existe un sanctuaire volant dans la ville de Yawata, dans la préfecture de Kyoto. Le sanctuaire a été construit en 1915 par Chuhachi Ninomiya, la première personne à faire voler un avion motorisé au Japon, avec ses propres fonds privés dans sa propre résidence. Il se trouve à cinq minutes de marche de la gare de Yawata City sur la ligne de chemin de fer électrique Keihan. De nombreuses personnes se rendent au sanctuaire Hachimangu de Washimizu dans la ville de Yawata. Ne manquez pas de vous arrêter également à ce sanctuaire volant.

Comme le sanctuaire est situé dans une résidence privée, il a une atmosphère différente de celle que l’on imagine habituellement pour un sanctuaire. Tout d’abord, lorsque vous entrez dans le manoir, vous verrez un grand moteur F104, qui est un moteur d’avion. Tout d’abord, j’ai été fasciné par ce moteur.

Ensuite, j’ai regardé le bassin d’eau, qui ressemblait à un poisson volant ou à un corbeau, peut-être une esquisse de l’avion que M. Chuhachi était en train de développer. Chuhachi a créé une “machine volante en forme de corbeau” alimentée par du caoutchouc et l’a fait voler avec succès. Plus tard, il invente l’aérostat “scarabée de jade”. Bien que les photographies ne soient pas autorisées, le musée Chuhachi Ninomiya adjacent présente un grand nombre de ses autographes et de ses photographies, ainsi que des modèles donnés par des personnes de l’industrie aérospatiale. Je voudrais rappeler qu’il y avait un homme au Japon qui rêvait de mettre au point le premier avion du monde et qui a failli y parvenir. ( Fin )
