東塔へは歩いて向かう
浄土院から更に東塔に向かって歩きますと、東塔と阿弥陀堂のある所まできました。それほど遠くなかったので、バスを待たなかったことが正解でした。阿弥陀堂に入り、お参りをした後、休む間もなく先に進みます。訪問した際は、戒壇院が工事中で中に入れませんでした。
大講堂で教祖たちと出会う
大講堂まで着いて、中に入り、鎌倉仏教を開いた教祖の像を見て回りました。時々、テレビでも放送されるのでご存知の方も多いと思いますが、法然さん、親鸞さん、日蓮さんなどの像が並んでいます。
一隅を照らす
次に国宝殿に向かいました。国宝殿では仏像などがありましたが、それよりも一番印象に残ったのは、最澄が記した山家学生式の文言です。「一隅を照らす」という文言は、おなじみですが、全文をゆっくり読ませていただきました。
現代語訳も書いてあります。国師とは学問のできる人、国用とは実践できる人、国宝とは学問にすぐれ実践力のある人。しかし、原文を読む方が、多少意味を取り違えたとしても、最澄の思いと息吹が感じられ、心に迫るものがありました。伝教大師という名前の通りの生涯を歩まれたことを、今回の訪問を通じて強く感じました。
根本中堂にてお参りしたあと、ロープウェイにのり山を下りました。下界では、マンガのキャラクターとコラボした叡山電鉄の車両に、多くの若者がカメラを片手に集まっていました。（完）

Enryakuji Temple (3) East Pagoda area
Walk to the East Pagoda area
Walking further from Jodoin toward the East Pagoda area, I came to the place where the East Pagoda and Amida Hall are located. It was a good thing I did not wait for the bus, because it was not that far away. After entering the Amida Hall and paying my respect, I continued on without a moment’s rest. When I visited, the Kaidan-in was under construction and I could not enter.
Meet Oyasama and others in the main auditorium
Arriving at the main lecture hall, I went inside and looked around at the statues of the gurus who founded Kamakura Buddhism. As many of you may know from the occasional TV broadcasts, there are statues of Honen, Shinran, Nichiren, and others.
Shine a bright light at a corner
Next, I headed to the National Treasure Hall. In the National Treasure Hall, there were Buddhist statues and other items, but what impressed me the most was the text of the Sanke-gakushoshiki written by Saicho. The phrase “to light a corner of the world” is a familiar one, but I read the whole text slowly.
A modern translation is also written. “Kokushi” means a person who can learn, “Kokuyou” means a person who can practice, and “Kokuhou” means a person who excels in learning and has practical ability. However, reading the original text, even if I misunderstood the meaning a little, I could feel Saicho’s thoughts and breath, and it was more compelling to me. Through this visit, I strongly felt that he lived his life as his name, Denkyo Daishi, implies.
After praying at the Kompon Chudo Hall, I took the ropeway down the mountain. Down below, many young people gathered with cameras in their hands to see the Eizan Electric Railway cars that were collaborated with cartoon characters. (End)

En quittant Jodoin pour me rendre dans le quartier de la pagode orientale, je suis arrivé à l’endroit où se trouvent la pagode orientale et le hall Amida. C’était une bonne chose que je n’aie pas attendu le bus, car il n’était pas si loin. Après être entré dans le Hall Amida et avoir présenté mes respects, j’ai continué sans me reposer un instant. Lors de ma visite, le Kaidan-in était en construction et je n’ai pas pu y entrer.

Arrivé dans la salle de conférence principale, je suis entré et j’ai regardé les statues des gourous qui ont fondé le bouddhisme de Kamakura. Comme beaucoup d’entre vous le savent peut-être grâce aux émissions télévisées occasionnelles, il y a des statues de Honen, Shinran, Nichiren et d’autres.

Ensuite, je me suis dirigé vers la salle du trésor national. Dans la salle du trésor national, il y avait des statues bouddhistes et d’autres objets, mais ce qui m’a le plus impressionné, c’est le texte du Sanke-gakushoshiki écrit par Saicho. La phrase “éclairer un coin du monde” m’est familière, mais j’ai lu tout le texte lentement.

Cependant, en lisant le texte original, même si j’ai un peu mal compris le sens, j’ai pu sentir les pensées et le souffle de Saicho, et c’était plus convaincant pour moi. Grâce à cette visite, j’ai fortement ressenti qu’il vivait sa vie comme son nom, Denkyo Daishi, le laisse entendre.
Après avoir prié à la salle Kompon Chudo, j’ai pris le téléphérique pour descendre la montagne. En bas, de nombreux jeunes s’étaient rassemblés, appareil photo à la main, pour voir les wagons du chemin de fer électrique d’Eizan qui avaient été conçus avec des personnages de dessins animés. (Fin)
