マンガでわかる文楽編集部 編「マンガでわかる文楽」 誠文堂新光社
プライベートで入会しているメンバーズクラブのイベントで、文楽を見に行くことになりました。演目は、仮名手本忠臣蔵。この演目を知らない人はいないと思うのですが、油断は禁物と思い、先にあらすじを勉強しておこうと購入したのが本書です。
歌舞伎同様、江戸時代の物語は、時代を過去に置き換えた展開となるので、登場人物の名前が馴染のストーリーと異なることはしかたありません。それ以上に、刃傷に及ぶ原因が、女性がらみになってしまうのは、より多くの観客に受けるためでしょうか。まあ、長い演目の内、観覧したのは最初の方だけなので、全体を見たのではありませんが、本書で学んだ知識でいうと、討ち入りのシーンがないのは残念です。人形を沢山使っての討ち入りは、舞台構成上難しいのかもしれませんが。
本書に戻ると、「あらすじかから見どころ、歌舞伎との違いまで全部わかる」と表紙に書いてあります。１章は、文楽はじめてさんのギモンに答えます。初めて文楽を見る人に向けて、そもそも文楽って何なのか、どう楽しめばいいのか、について書いています。2章は、はじめてさんへのオススメ演目。曽根崎心中、国姓爺合戦などの演目について、見開き2ページの解説文とマンガで説明してくれています。
3章以降は、キャラの立つ主人公の紹介であったり、愛憎渦巻く人間ドラマの代表作の解説であったり、技芸員さんたちの仕事の紹介もしています。そして6章は、仮名手本忠臣蔵の完全ガイドとなっています。詳しいストーリーについては本書をご参照ください。
観劇当日は、少し早めに文楽劇場に行き、技芸員さん達に人形の動かし方や、その人形が着ている衣装、3人で人形を操作する際の担当分けなどを、本物の人形を使って説明していただきました。
芝居が始まると、大夫と三味線弾きが出て来て、大夫が物語の流れや登場人物のセリフを独特の節回しで語ってくれます。初心者には、語る内容がわかりにくいところもあるので、イヤホーンで解説を聴きながら観劇をします。幕が変わるたびに、大夫も交代していきました。初心者には大夫さんの良し悪しまでは判断つきませんが、慣れてくれば、それぞれの大夫さんの個性を楽しめるのかもしれません。
観劇に慣れていないので、途中、睡魔に襲われて記憶を失くしたシーンもありますが、概ね理解できる内容だったので、話のストーリーは追えました。事前学習の賜物です。（完）

Manga de Wakaru Bunraku (Understanding Bunraku through Manga), edited by Manga de Wakaru Bunraku Editorial Department, Seibundo Shinkosha
I was going to see Bunraku at an event of a private members’ club I am a member of. The program was “Kanadehon Chushingura. I don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t know this play, but I thought I shouldn’t be too careful, so I bought this book to learn the synopsis of the play first.
Like kabuki, stories set in the Edo period take place in the past, so it is inevitable that the names of the characters will differ from those in the familiar story. The fact that the reason for the blade wounds is related to women may be to attract a wider audience. Well, I only saw the first part of the long performance, so I did not see the entire show, but from what I learned from this book, I am sorry to say, from what I have learned from this book, that there are no scenes of the raid, although it may be difficult to stage a raid with a lot of puppets.
The first chapter answers the questions of those who are new to Bunraku. Chapter 2 is a list of recommended performances for first-timers. The second chapter is a recommended performance for beginners, explaining about Sonezakishinju, Kokuseinya Gassen, and other performances with a double-page spread and manga.
From chapter 3 onward, the book introduces the main characters with strong characters, explains representative human dramas of love and hate, and also introduces the work of the technical staff. And chapter 6 is a complete guide to the Kanadehon Chushingura. For the detailed story, please refer to this book.
On the day of the performance, we went to the Bunraku Theater a little early and listened to the technical staff explain how to move the puppets, the costumes they wear, and the division of responsibilities when three people operate the puppets, using real puppets.
When the play began, the tayu and shamisen player came out, and the taiyu told the flow of the story and the lines of the characters in his own unique way. Since it is difficult for beginners to understand some parts of the story, we watch the play while listening to the commentary with earphones. Each time the curtain changed, the tayiu also changed. Beginners cannot judge the quality of each taiyu, but once you get used to it, you may be able to enjoy the individuality of each taiyu.
Since I am not accustomed to watching the theater, there were some scenes during the performance that I lost my memory due to sleepiness, but I was able to follow the storyline because I could understand most of the content. This is the result of preliminary study. (End)

J’allais voir un Bunraku lors d’un événement d’un club privé dont je suis membre. Le programme était “Kanadehon Chushingura”. Je ne pense pas qu’il y ait quelqu’un qui ne connaisse pas cette pièce, mais je me suis dit que je ne devais pas être trop prudent, alors j’ai acheté ce livre pour apprendre d’abord le synopsis de la pièce.
Comme le kabuki, les histoires se déroulant à l’époque d’Edo se passent dans le passé, il est donc inévitable que les noms des personnages diffèrent de ceux de l’histoire familière. Le fait que la raison des blessures par lame soit liée aux femmes est peut-être destiné à attirer un public plus large. Bon, je n’ai vu que la première partie de la longue représentation, donc je n’ai pas vu tout le spectacle, mais d’après ce que j’ai appris dans ce livre, je suis désolé de dire qu’il n’y a pas de scènes du raid, bien qu’il puisse être difficile de mettre en scène un raid avec beaucoup de marionnettes.

Le jour de la représentation, nous sommes allés au théâtre Bunraku un peu en avance et avons écouté le personnel technique expliquer comment faire bouger les marionnettes, les costumes qu’elles portent et la répartition des responsabilités lorsque trois personnes font fonctionner les marionnettes, en utilisant de vraies marionnettes.
Lorsque la pièce a commencé, le joueur de tayu et de shamisen est sorti, et le taiyu a raconté le déroulement de l’histoire et les répliques des personnages à sa manière. Comme il est difficile pour les débutants de comprendre certaines parties de l’histoire, nous regardons la pièce tout en écoutant le commentaire avec des écouteurs. Chaque fois que le rideau change, le tayiu change aussi. Les débutants ne peuvent pas juger de la qualité de chaque taiyu, mais une fois que vous vous serez habitués, vous pourrez apprécier l’individualité de chaque taiyu.
Comme je n’ai pas l’habitude de regarder le théâtre, il y a eu des scènes pendant la représentation dont j’ai perdu la mémoire à cause de la somnolence, mais j’ai pu suivre l’intrigue parce que je comprenais la plupart du contenu. C’est le résultat de l’étude préliminaire. (Fin)
