秀吉と対立し全山焼失
和歌山方面に出張があり、今まで来れていなかった根来寺まで足を延ばしました。根来寺は15～16世紀には全国から学問を志す僧侶が集まる大寺院として繁栄していましたが、天下統一を目指す豊臣秀吉と対立することになり、1585年に大塔などの主要伽藍を残して全山焼失してしまいました。
ＪＲ阪和線の和泉砂川からは、根来寺まで直行するバスの時間帯ではなかったため、岩出図書館で降車し10分ほど歩くことになりました。曲がりくねった道路を歩いていると、道路脇の木々の間に大きな門が見えてきました。道路脇なので誰も通る人がいない門です。私は仁王像に御挨拶したく、雨に濡れた地面を歩いていきました。左右の像ともに赤く彩色されていて、顔の表情にも迫力がみなぎっていました。
役行者も祀られている
少し歩くとお寺の受付があります。そこから真っすぐ歩くと、鐘楼門を通過し光明殿に突き当たります。隣の寺務所から中に入ることができまして、光明殿と聖天堂にてお参りをしました。その間にある行者堂には役行者が祀られており、和歌山の山奥らしいなと感じさせました。
この光明殿の裏側になる庭園は、国の名勝庭園に指定されています。雨の影響でしょうか、薄暗いため、鄙びた庭の風情が楽しめる情景になっています。
大塔はやはり大きい！
そして、本日のメイン堂宇として、訪問の目的である国宝の大塔を見に行きました。高さ40ｍを誇る木造建築のこの大塔は日本最大だそうです。もちろん国宝であります。中には高野山の壇上伽藍の根本大塔で見たような大日如来を取り巻く仏像群が鎮座していました。隣の大伝法堂には真ん中の大きな大日如来像を筆頭に3体の巨大な仏像を拝観しました。誕生月と干支の両方で、守護仏が大日如来なので、どうしても大日如来に関心が向いてしまいます。ここの大日如来像も私の好きな顔立ちをしていて、長くお祈りをしてきました。（完）

Negoroji Temple (English)
Confronted Hideyoshi and burned down the entire Temple.
I had a business trip to the Wakayama area and visited Negoroji Temple, which I had not been able to visit before. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Negoroji Temple prospered as a large temple where monks from all over the country came to study, but it came into conflict with Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who wanted to unify the country, and the entire temple was burned down in 1585, leaving the main temple buildings including the main pagoda.
From Izumisunakawa on the JR Hanwa Line, it was not time for the bus to go directly to Negoroji, so I had to get off at the Iwade Library and walk for about 10 minutes. As I walked along the winding road, I saw a large gate between the trees on the left side of the road. Since it was on the side of the road, no one was passing through the gate. I wanted to greet the statues of Nioh, so I walked across the rain-soaked ground. Both the left and right statues were painted red, and the expressions on their faces were very powerful.
En-no-Gyoja is also enshrined here.
A short walk took me to the temple’s reception desk. From there, I walked straight past the bell tower gate and I came to Komyouden (main hall). I entered the main hall from the temple office next door, and I paid my respects at Komyouden and the Hall of Shoten. In between the two, there was an ascetic hall where En-no-gyoja was enshrined, which made me feel that this temple was located deep in the mountains of Wakayama.
The garden behind Komyoden was designated as a national scenic beauty garden. The garden was dimly lit, probably due to the rain, making it a scene where I could enjoy the atmosphere of a remote garden.
The Great Tower is really huge!
Then, as the main building of the day, I went to see the National Treasure, the Great Pagoda, which was the purpose of my visit. At 40 meters high, this wooden structure is said to be the largest pagoda in Japan. Of course, it is a national treasure. Inside was a group of Buddhist statues surrounding the Dainichi Nyorai, just like the one I saw in the Konmpon Daito of the Danjo Garan in Koyasan. In the adjacent Dai Dento Buddhist Hall, I saw three huge Buddha statues, led by the large Dainichi Nyorai statue in the middle. I couldn’t help but be interested in the Dainichi Nyorai, since it is the guardian Buddha of both my birth month and my zodiac sign. The statue of Dainichi Nyorai here also had a face that I liked, and I prayed for a long time. (End)
Temple Negoroji (Français)
Il a affronté Hideyoshi et a brûlé le temple entier.
Lors d’un voyage d’affaires dans la région de Wakayama, j’ai visité le temple Negoroji, que je n’avais pas eu l’occasion de visiter auparavant. Aux 15e et 16e siècles, le temple Negoroji a prospéré en tant que grand temple où les moines de tout le pays venaient étudier, mais il est entré en conflit avec Toyotomi Hideyoshi, qui voulait unifier le pays, et l’ensemble du temple a été incendié en 1585, laissant les bâtiments principaux du temple, y compris la pagode principale.
Depuis Izumisunakawa sur la ligne JR Hanwa, le bus n’avait pas le temps de se rendre directement à Negoroji, j’ai donc dû descendre à la bibliothèque d’Iwade et marcher pendant environ 10 minutes. En marchant le long de la route sinueuse, j’ai vu un grand portail entre les arbres sur le côté gauche de la route. Comme il se trouvait sur le côté de la route, personne ne passait par le portail. Je voulais saluer les statues de Nioh, alors j’ai traversé le sol trempé par la pluie. Les statues de gauche et de droite étaient peintes en rouge, et l’expression de leur visage était très forte.
L’En-no-Gyoja y est également enchâssé.
Une courte marche m’a conduit à la réception du temple. De là, j’ai passé la porte du clocher et je suis arrivé au Komyouden (hall principal). Je suis entré dans le hall principal depuis le bureau du temple situé à côté, et j’ai présenté mes respects au Komyouden et à la salle du Shoten. Entre les deux, il y avait un hall d’ascèse où En-no-gyoja était enchâssé, ce qui m’a donné l’impression que ce temple était situé au plus profond des montagnes de Wakayama.
Le jardin derrière Komyoden a été désigné comme un jardin national de beauté scénique. Le jardin était faiblement éclairé, probablement à cause de la pluie, ce qui en faisait une scène où je pouvais apprécier l’atmosphère d’un jardin isolé.
La Grande Tour est vraiment énorme !
Puis, comme bâtiment principal de la journée, je suis allé voir le trésor national, la Grande Pagode, qui était le but de ma visite. Avec ses 40 mètres de haut, cette structure en bois est considérée comme la plus grande pagode du Japon. Bien sûr, c’est un trésor national. À l’intérieur se trouve un groupe de statues bouddhistes entourant le Dainichi Nyorai, tout comme celui que j’ai vu dans le Konmpon Daito du Danjo Garan à Koyasan. Dans la salle bouddhiste Dai Dento adjacente, j’ai vu trois énormes statues de Bouddha, menées par la grande statue Dainichi Nyorai au milieu. Je n’ai pas pu m’empêcher de m’intéresser au Dainichi Nyorai, puisqu’il s’agit du bouddha gardien de mon mois de naissance et de mon signe zodiacal. La statue de Dainichi Nyorai ici avait aussi un visage que j’aimais, et j’ai prié pendant un long moment. (Fin)
