三井寺の隣に位置する圓満院は、現存する17の門跡寺院の１つです。今回は、不動尊巡礼と三井の名庭として知られる池泉鑑賞式庭園の鑑賞を目的として来ました。最初に境内に入ると右手に大きな護摩堂が建っており、その前に不動尊像がありました。護摩堂の中に祀られているのも不動尊です。不動尊のお顔まではよく見えませんでしたが、ここは不動尊の寺ということが分かります。

受付で拝観料を払い、宸殿に入っていきました。この宸殿は1647年に京都御所から移築されたもので、書院造りの宸殿は、桃山文化をよく伝える御所建築の遺構と言われています。内部も広々としていて、上段に玉座も配されています。この宸殿の南側には、室町時代の茶道・香道の宗家、相阿弥の作と伝えられる庭園が広がっています。

しばらく、縁側に据えられた椅子に腰掛けて、この庭園を眺めていました。この庭園の池の水は、圓満院に湧き出る水であり、毎年、天然記念物のモリアオガエルが産卵に訪れるそうです。モリアオガエルって水の綺麗なところで産卵する様です。以前、湧き出る水が有名なお寺を訪問した際も、そこにモリアオガエルが産卵しにくると聞いたことがあります。

宸殿の奥には、本堂があり、そこには御本尊の不動尊像が祀られています。仏像までの距離はありましたが、顔の表情がよく見えて、こちらを厳しい顔で睨んでいました。なかなか凛々しいお顔をしていました。現代では、その顔を見て恐怖を感じる人は少ないと思いますが、昔の純真な人たちは、この恐ろしげな顔を見て、我が身の行いを正されたのかもしれません。（完）

Enman-in Monzeki Temple (Otsu, Shiga Prefecture)

Located next to Mii Temple, Enman-in is one of the 17 existing monzeki temples. I came here this time to make a pilgrimage to Fudoson and to view the pond garden, known as Mii’s famous garden. When I first entered the temple grounds, there was a large Gomado hall on the right and a statue of Fudo in front of it. The statue enshrined in the Gomado is also a statue of Fudo. Although I could not see Fudo’s face clearly, I could tell that this is a temple dedicated to Fudo.

After paying the entrance fee at the reception desk, I entered Shinden (Imperial Hall). This Shinden was moved from the Kyoto Imperial Palace in 1647, and the shoin-style Shinden is said to be an architectural remnant of the Imperial Palace that conveys the Momoyama culture well. The interior is spacious, with a throne on the upper level. To the south of the Shinden is a garden said to be the work of Soami, a Muromachi period tea ceremony and incense ceremony master.

I sat for a while on a chair on the porch and gazed at the garden. The water in the pond in this garden comes from a spring in Enmang-in Temple, and is said to be visited every year by the Mori-green-tree-frog, a natural treasure, to lay their eggs in the pond. It seems that the frogs lay their eggs in places with clean water. When I once visited a temple famous for its spring water, I was told that the frogs come there to lay their eggs.

Behind the Shinden hall, there is the main hall where the main statue of Fudo-son, is enshrined. Although there was a distance to the Buddha image, I could see his facial expression clearly and he was staring at me with a stern face. It was quite a dignified face. Today, few people would feel fear when they see that face, but the innocent people of the past may have been corrected in their own conduct by seeing this terrifying face. (End)

Temple Enman-in Monzeki (Otsu, préfecture de Shiga)

Situé à côté du temple Mii, Enman-in est l’un des 17 temples monzeki existants. Je suis venu ici cette fois pour faire un pèlerinage à Fudoson et pour voir le jardin de l’étang, connu comme le célèbre jardin de Mii. Lorsque je suis entré dans l’enceinte du temple, il y avait une grande salle Gomado sur la droite et une statue de Fudo devant. La statue enchâssée dans le Gomado est également une statue de Fudo. Bien que je n’aie pas pu voir clairement le visage de Fudo, j’ai pu constater qu’il s’agissait d’un temple dédié à Fudo.

Après avoir payé le droit d’entrée à la réception, je suis entré dans le Shinden (salle impériale). Ce Shinden a été déplacé du Palais impérial de Kyoto en 1647, et le style shoin du Shinden est considéré comme un vestige architectural du Palais impérial qui transmet bien la culture Momoyama. L’intérieur est spacieux, avec un trône au niveau supérieur. Au sud du Shinden se trouve un jardin qui serait l’œuvre de Soami, un maître de cérémonie du thé et de l’encens de la période Muromachi.

Je me suis assis un moment sur une chaise sous le porche et j’ai regardé le jardin. L’eau de l’étang de ce jardin provient d’une source du temple Enmang-in, et on dit qu’elle est visitée chaque année par la grenouille verte Mori, un trésor naturel, pour y pondre ses œufs. Il semble que les grenouilles pondent leurs œufs dans des endroits où l’eau est propre. Lorsque j’ai visité un temple célèbre pour son eau de source, on m’a dit que les grenouilles venaient y pondre leurs œufs.

Derrière le hall Shinden, se trouve le hall principal où est enchâssée la statue principale de Fudo-son. Bien qu’il y ait une certaine distance entre l’image du Bouddha et moi, je pouvais voir clairement l’expression de son visage et il me fixait avec un visage sévère. C’était un visage très digne. Aujourd’hui, peu de gens auraient peur en voyant ce visage, mais les innocents du passé ont peut-être été corrigés dans leur propre conduite en voyant ce visage terrifiant. (Fin)
